Tim, thank you for your no-nonsense writing style, and for not including cutesy cartoon graphics and etc. Just the facts.

I still have articles showing up in my "new comments" notifications box, which I unfollowed several days ago.

Also, I used to be able to left-click the notifications box, and then middle-click each "new comments" link, and the notifications box would stay open as long as I didn't click outside it. Now, middle-clicking one of the links causes it to close. Bad, bad coding.

Quit fixing things that weren't broken !!

Yes David, you know how delicate my feelings are. Thanks for singling me out, I can always count on your... oh, forget it.

It just seems odd that an author who vanished so long ago, and wasn't all that prolific of an author anyway, would be remembered by anyone. For some reason she is in my followed authors list and I have no idea why.

Agreed, something in the "new comments" identification was seriously broken recently.

I see no value in any of the changes. It's like you are intentionally building a site that no one will want to use.

All changes made to the site in the last month or two have been BAD. Remove them all. SA is self-destructing.

What do you mean, you "conducted an informal survey of readers and followers"? You haven't published anything here in over 2.5 years !!!

Authors who do not participate in the comment threads are a common annoyance here. I report them by using the "Problem with this article? Please tell us" link which SA has now cleverly hidden under the "Expand" button at the very end of the article.

This article is almost two years old. So who is reporting the comments from so long ago? And why would SA bother to delete them now?

I just got an email that the following comment "was removed as it was nested within a broader discussion that was deleted. We apologize for the inconvenience.
If you feel your comment is still relevant, we invite you to edit it as needed and repost it." So that's exactly what I'm doing.

    original comment:
In between the end of the article and the start of the comments, there is a link where you can send your comments directly to SA management. ("Problem with this article? Please tell us.") I've reported a few articles in this way, and have always gotten a reply from SA.

And I'm telling you that saying "neener neener, the good stuff is behind the curtain, pay up or shut up" is what SA explicitly said they would NOT allow.

No, no. You can't say "I'm creating a portfolio in the free articles" and then "to maintain it, you will have to subscribe to my pay articles". That's just dirty pool.

When SA started the Pay Wall, we told them not to let the free section become mere hype of the paid section. They said "that won't happen" but it is indeed happening more and more.

I encourage readers to contact SA through "Please tell us" which they have now hidden under the "Expand" down arrow next to "About this article" in between the end of the article and the start of the comments.

I will say again, that it is wholly inappropriate for most of your comments in the free articles, to refer people to your paid content. When SA created the Pay Wall, they explicitly said that authors would be told not to do this. But you consistently do it anyway. Please stop.

I don't need to. There are so many Sbux's in my area that none of them are ever crowded. I guess some of you can't understand that.

I don't recall needing to tell them when I would pick up.

I don't need mobile or online ordering. I pass several Starbucks on my short commute, I can stop at any of them and there is never a line of more than one or two.
