  • Alan Abelson Died: Lives On Through A Generation He Defined [View article]
There is an old adage that goes, "we get old too quick, and smart, too late." You have renewed my confidence in your generation's values as well as willingness to recognize the worth of your elders. Maybe we will have fewer nursing homes sometime soon.
    Nothing like a thankful person.
Thanks to James and all who have responded to his article.

  • HSBC Should Be A Core Bank Holding [View article]
In Latin America the billboards say HSBC is DAVIVIENDA and have a logo with what appears to be a parrot in the shape of a house. The employees are unsure if they are connected. Could someone advise if there was a merger or is there an additional stock symbol for that name. They are doing a lot of business out there, ATM use is $3.00.

  • I Invested In Microsoft But I Have More Than A Few Words For Steve Ballmer [View article]
Thank your for a well-balanced and objective opinion. I hope that Healthcare CEO's/Administrators would find this very instructive to their industry. In every organization, there are folk with varied talents/experiences, who could take the organization to higher heights. However, it appears that fear of either failure, or loss/reduction of end-of-year perks and in some instances not wanting to defy the wishes of certain board members, do contribute to these disappointing outcomes.
In view of your non-destructive approach to this article, I will invest in MSFT, bearing in mind your observations.
    Thanks.

sunnypt, thanks I did that and because of the God-blessed advice from SA staff I have been doing so well that a year ago we started an over-the road transportation business. Working a 12-15hr shift daily, certainly damaged my investment outcome, as Hamilton Cavanaugh, had the 401k invested in high expense ratio >2% and passively managed funds, $250 biweekly for over 17 years. At the end all I had was a little over 100g. I used my injury to empower myself by researching and making the necessary changes. I am sharing the information with others who are in a similar situation. Thanks

sunnypt, you are actually describing what is my experience. I went to a chase advisor who promptly placed over 100g into 2 chase high expense ratio insurance funds. Now that I am disabled, more time has been spent reading, and so I gradually moved some of these funds over the last 2 years to V, Brk.B, JPM, Tal, to name a few. I am still wrestling with an advisor at another company where I am unable to do my own trading, to sell the remaining high expense ratio mutual funds. I was able to purchase some PPA, and other stocks while he was absent. Why are some companies controlling investors ability to participate in the trade process?
