  • I Invested In Microsoft But I Have More Than A Few Words For Steve Ballmer [View article]
Thank your for a well-balanced and objective opinion. I hope that Healthcare CEO's/Administrators would find this very instructive to their industry. In every organization, there are folk with varied talents/experiences, who could take the organization to higher heights. However, it appears that fear of either failure, or loss/reduction of end-of-year perks and in some instances not wanting to defy the wishes of certain board members, do contribute to these disappointing outcomes.
In view of your non-destructive approach to this article, I will invest in MSFT, bearing in mind your observations.
    Thanks.

  • Dividend Growth Investor - Call 911 [View article]
sunnypt, thanks I did that and because of the God-blessed advice from SA staff I have been doing so well that a year ago we started an over-the road transportation business. Working a 12-15hr shift daily, certainly damaged my investment outcome, as Hamilton Cavanaugh, had the 401k invested in high expense ratio >2% and passively managed funds, $250 biweekly for over 17 years. At the end all I had was a little over 100g. I used my injury to empower myself by researching and making the necessary changes. I am sharing the information with others who are in a similar situation. Thanks

sunnypt, you are actually describing what is my experience. I went to a chase advisor who promptly placed over 100g into 2 chase high expense ratio insurance funds. Now that I am disabled, more time has been spent reading, and so I gradually moved some of these funds over the last 2 years to V, Brk.B, JPM, Tal, to name a few. I am still wrestling with an advisor at another company where I am unable to do my own trading, to sell the remaining high expense ratio mutual funds. I was able to purchase some PPA, and other stocks while he was absent. Why are some companies controlling investors ability to participate in the trade process?

  • Burned By The Last Bear Market? Consider This Active Tactical Allocation ETF [View article]
I am a novice at investments who recently transferred over 90g of my 401k funds to a bank's brokerage account. The broker invested it in podax, ogiax and vhiax. Just realized he got 5.5% front load on each and fees for each are over 1.35%. What should I do. SOS

  • Why You Shouldn't Automatically Reinvest Dividends [View article]
Thanks for shedding some light on this issue. Only yesterday I started to invest a portion of my quarterly $300+ dividends. Another discovery, now that I am home is the realization that employer's 401k, 403b plan do not allow us access to all the funds/stocks available at investment companies. We are limited to funds selected by the employer which do not offer opportunity for rapid growth. In the late 80's I made frequent calls Nationwide, Prudential, Hamilton Cavanaugh etc, as employers replaced investment companies, requesting to purchase shares of Berkshire Hathaway, after reading about it in money magazine. However they did not explain that my employer did not include it in the portfolio and I lacked the skills to make the necessary adjustments. After 23yrs of saving $400+ per month in these tdas I have less than 200,000. I am home a year, and no longer spend 99% of my time ensuring my employer's financial success, while being too tired to take care of my own. I am investing the same 12+hr days/70+ hrs weekly, since being injured, learning and investing more wisely. It is paying off greatly. Thanks
