  • Salesforce's guidance mixed; deferred revenue grows 31% [View news story]
I really wish press outlets, especially finance ones like SA, would give out GAAP EPS in headlines instead of CRM's fantasy numbers. At least label the fantasy non-GAAP numbers as such.

"the majority of the company's industry peers report non-GAAP operating results that exclude certain non-cash or non-recurring items, such as certain one-time charges" ... I didn't realize paying employees was considered a one-time charge

If I had Bill Gates type money, I would consider NYC but if I had "only" 10-ish million ( and I dont ), I would not live in NYC. Anything under that, physical standard of living is horrible. Only reason to stay there was to milk finance job until I had enough. I moved to Portland and find quality of life here so much better.

    plus,
i'm going to call BS when i see it. When someone calls me a liar and then claims to be an expert while obviously having no relevant education or work experiences, i'm calling BS. I admit I was wrong in thinking he might have been able to do basic scripting. Just wondering if he is leeching off system or his parents ...

Anyways, I actually could live decently well off dividends and rental income. I find programming interesting so I work. I do plan on going to AWS interview since I was planning on visiting Seattle .. might as well make Amazon pay for it!

Someone as full of himself would certainly mention highly regarded academic credentials if he had them. Given lack of academic background and self admitted lack of serious programming, i find it laughable that the clown is so sure of himself and dismissive of others.

He probably stumbled into php front end job; then thought learning some python made him expert in programming. Reality is probably closer to Wordpress site management. And I doubt his resume would not make it past HR at most top tier companies.

i would argue steady, reasonable standard of living .. which is really different than spending level. Many people, including myself, spend much of working life in places like NYC or SF but once you have enough to get off treadmill, there are plenty of cheaper and arguably better places to live.

That sounds like you're chickening out of bet. Let me guess .. you don't have CS degree. "learning to code" means you do some basic front end type web stuff? Maybe testing? LOL. Good luck with the career and ignore real engineers laughing at you.

So you think I'm lying because I knew that AWS revenue dropped ? I hope your coding isn't as pathetic as your reading comprehension.
My profile isn't "learning to code".... hilariously, i recently got invitation to interview with Amazon/AWS.
You want to bet i'm lying? Can we get trusted 3rd party .. maybe SA editor to verify my identity, job history and invitation to interview for AWS job .. if so, will you admit you are clueless fool and refrain from posting for a year?

The discussion isn't about good for developers but good as a business. And since you are clueless about that, declining revenue ( which costs are probably increasing) is not good.

What surprises me is how anyone takes analysts seriously.

I've said this before but SEC should force analysts to hold non trivial amount of stock they "recommend" for at least 1 year or until price target is reached.
