Microsoft's Cashback: Changing the Internet Industry Forever
I better understand the situation after this article. MSFT decided it could not beat GOOG at its own game so it changed the game. It moved the battlefield out of GOOG's cannon field of fire. That is innovative. Soon GOOG will be viewed as Netscape, WordPerfect, Lotus, and DbaseIII+

While Microsoft and Yahoo Fiddle, Google Burns
“Yahoo (YHOO) and Microsoft (MSFT) don’t have much time to get their acts together” What a foolish statement. You’re saying it’s different this time, GOOG will rule forever!! What actually will happen is something unexpected and unimagined and GOOG will stumble. Just like Yahoo and Microsoft stumbled. The story is as old as the story mentioned in your headline for the article.

"screw up" is too mechanical; you need a more up-to-date metaphor. Like: I don't have any answers either.

The EMT as you describe would be a theory I would not agree with, so it appears that we do agree: the EMT is no realistic.

      Dear Vikas,
You disavowed the efficient market theory and then espoused its workings. The market is efficient because of the mis-pricing like the one you described. Mis-pricing is a prerequisite to the efficient market. If no mis-pricing ever occurred, there would be no opportunity and investors would not be interested. You described the efficient market working flawlessly.
I enjoyed your article. Many articles about MSFT are almost humorously biased. Every adjective and adverb used to describe MSFT is negative, and every adjective and adverb used to described MSFT’s competition is flattering. Your article has none of this foolishness that I have read in many previous article by other authors.

You write you differ from those who believe in the efficient market theory, then for the rest of your article you describe the efficient market theory working flawlessly in the market. This is a contradiction that makes your message unclear.

Google and Salesforce: Why Don't They Just Merge?
In a few years, Google and Salesforce.com will have a package almost as good as Office 2003.
This might be of concern if MSFT mgmt sat around the office, drank beer, and watched ESPN all day. Since this is not the likely scenario, MSFT has little to worry about. GOOG has won one battle, but MSFT never gives up and is currently focusing on the next battlefield. SeekingAlpha enjoys writing that MSFT is under attack. The question is with 90%+ marketshare, who else should everyone be attacking? AOL? Netscape? Oops, MSFT did away with them years ago.

"Once again Microsoft copies or steals from others rather than being the first to come up with an idea. So much for Microsoft innovation."

MSFT makes its software compatible with other formats, and it's called a thief; when MSFT's files are not compatible it's called a monopoly. MSFT cannot win with some audiences.
