The several comments that began with: "I predicted" are very humorous. The results are not, but the self appointed analysts comments are funny. In the other comments, I could hear the usual call MSFT every insulting word in the book bitterness.

You have reached the choir in your sermon of "MSFT damnation". I understand your job is to create an audience and sell it to advertisers, but I would prefer some journalism where you cover all bases and I cannot determine your personal viewpoint.
A Review of the 2009 Macworld Conference and Expo [View article]
you start with: "the 2009 Macworld Conference and Expo...was very successful."
you end with: "Let's hope the Macworld Expo is repeated in the future, and let's hope Apple continues to be successful."
Not too long ago your ending comments would not have been dreamed of, to say nothing of put in writing. It has the ring of success is not longer clearly visible. it's as if your subject has lost its mojo.
Nothing is crumbling or strong. Everything is in a constant state of deterioration and reconstruction. The idea of something crumbling reflects a narrow view; it is the viewpoint of youth. It is the viewpoint of experiencing one up and one down rather than the overall trend of continuous ebbs and flow. Inside success is the seed of eventual failure and inside failure is the seeds of an eventual success. It's an infinite loop
What this author is saying is: Many technologies are changing and as long as MSFT does little or nothing about it, MSFT will flounder and eventually fail. The problem with that is: MSFT's competition has the identical problem, and the other problem is that is not a new development.
Google Phone: "Dream Phone" Might Be a Little Strong [View article]
Does Google run the risk of isolating itself by competing with companies it should be partnering with? They need partners to reach the market of cellphone users.
The End Run Around the Operating System Is Under Way [View article]
Wall Street is looking for the next money making machine. In this process, Wall Street will buy into many stories that claims to point out the next money machine. This is where the audience comes from for articles like "OS is dead"

"the operating system...will become an application that just happens to boot first. " - is that not that what it is now? "The OS will...be plumbing." = that isn't important? "Toss in virtualization" = isn't MSFT doing that? the OS glory days are gone...perhaps in a decade = what software product lasted more than 10 years. Your article says the changes you predict will take 10 years to play out, in other words technology will change in the next 10 years, not much of a headline grabber.

The humor is actually in the translations. Everything Microsoft said was a fact. i recommend Mr. Dignan proceed with aggressive caution next time he offers his humorous translations.

"Apple shareholders are poised for immediate growth" - sorry charlie, this optimism is already priced into the stock. good try though; a beginner might have bought it.
Just more fluff from the Microsoft camp trying desperately to defend its rapidly crumbling empire. i see nothing that is rapidly crumbing. I do see that microsoft created a world that did not exist before and initially created a mess [example: windows directory being every developers free for all with no published best practices], and Microsoft is now cleaning up its mess. I also see its rivals focusing on the prior messes.
i read the link in "Doug, Mtn. View, CA" post. the article boiled down to: it's difficult to compare due to so many options available in both systems. That was confusing as I thought only windows suffered from bloat; most of the article was emotion as was "Doug, Mtn. View, CA" post. P.S. Sometimes my socks don't match, but my boss has never noticed.
"The days of differentiation through applications are long gone. The Internet is the application." So the application is not the differentiator it is the differentiator; that is what you wrote. Apple has an extraordinary edge? How does the internet give apple an edge? That's like saying electricity gives Apple an edge. The hardware Apple is selling is slowly becoming a commodity, where's Apple's advantage?
