  • Did The Blackberry Reboot Get A Fair Shake In The Media In 2013 [View instapost]
DAOLDBUICK, I get that due to the iconic and well known past of Blackberry they may have reached for an old shot of the Bold or Pearl or Curve, (as you say thats what people know them by); but at a time when BB was desperately trying to show they had something new to offer, the stock photo the press almost always reached for was the old devices.

It would be akin to any new mention of Apple Iphone 6 in the press, to have show pictures of the original Iphone... and wouldn't that probably get quite a bit of blowback from Apple interested parties...

Yet this is what the MSM got away with on the launch of BB10 devices.. and I only opine on it cause I genuinely don't know if it was conspiratorial or just happen-stance. Perhaps an amalgam of all 3 reasons you listed?

But the continued and sustained use of old device pics used to describe current events (in 2013); ala Blackberry.. well it just seemed a little too pervasive to be by chance. And I know I'm not alone in this query. What's the truth?

Dr Azz, the attrition rate is equally "staggering" among shorts, notable and otherwise, who have left this thread. Another words doc, it actually ain't staggering, people come. And people go.

Judging by your remarks "a nice, fat position", you have decided to increase your originally stated "small" position.

    Good luck to all indeed.

All these predictions of doom n BK that are ever n ever and always "just a quarter or 4 away", yet somehow, magically, never actually materialise..

Well, you just joined the 'predictor' ranks doc, of as you just said here, you give BlackBerry '2 quarters'... So, we will talk in two quarters why wait for a year from now? and what will you say when the 2 quarters have elapsed and BlackBerry continues its recovery? Will you say like Shaned and A.hopf and doughterty, and A1 "well sure, I may have been a little too early, but it's still goin down!"

Is that what you will say in 2 quarters d

  • Bankers Face BlackBerry Dilemma As EZ Pass Program Expires [View article]
Professor, your comments do not suit your "dumbass-io" self imposed handle. Very astute pattern of thought provoking posts. Pls explain the dichotomy. I get the sarcasm but still am asking for clarity.

  • Can BlackBerry Become Brand New Again? [View article]
Angelic1 sounds so similar to Allknowing1-- they both made predictions that are verifiable. AKO said BlackBerry will be bankrupt by May 2015, and A1 said $5-7 by April...let's see. how that turns out, shall we?
"‎And by the way, BBRY will be trading at $5 to $7 by April 2015."

    As if there's a diff

Kia I never said it was a 5 year process ..re “That's an 18 year process to bring storied Sybase turnaround to fruition. So no. John Chen didn't didn't provide Sybase with a turn-around success just a short 5 years ago in 2010.”

Angelic said “nobody points to Chens almost 20 year ago success at Sybase as evidence or guarantee of future success," and “John Chen's past success at Sybase, which btw was almost 20 (1997) years ago!! “

So 18 years ago was the “success”? At 18 years ago, Sybase was worth $368 million MC. It wasn’t until 2010 that the success was fleshed out to a 14 bagger bringing shareholders $5.8 billion.. No one is saying JC turned around Sybase in 5 years.. What is undeniable, is that Chen led through 55 CONSECUTIVE quarters of growth, with a wrap up of that, in just 2010... The fleshing out or transaction value of his 14 year process and 55 successful quarters was ‘printed’ in 2010. And NOT “Chen’s almost 20 year success” And I never said 'chen did a turn-around success just 5 short years ago'… read my post again please--I said it started 17-18 years ago and was wrapped up in 2010--and Angelic was trying to make it out as Chen's success happened “almost 20 years ago” when no such thing had occurred. So when is the official 'printing' of said success? The success can be measured out, by the 14 bagger, the transaction of which, was when? 2010. So yeah, I do like ‘correctness’ in numbers, and you ain’t helping.

Why must we be talking like this is ancient history is all I‘m sayin.. Obfuscative parsing at best..

Angelic posts : "So lets all of us make a deal, I won't bring up anything older than a month ago and nobody points to Chens almost 20 year ago success at Sybase as evidence or guarantee of future success."

The ending of a matter of the matter was much more important than the beginning of a matter..(And while 'technically it did start 17-18 years ago, the IMPORTANT thing is, that chen then gave Sybase shareholders 55 quarters of consecutive growth, leading up to a 14 bagger in his tenure that just ended in 2010)

Your mention of "20 years ago success" is VERY misleading to say the least...

Please understand Angelic, that John Chen's Sybase success occurred in just 2010, just a few short years ago, NOT twenty...

Who's watching these guys when I take a break??

  • BlackBerry: Let's Not Celebrate Just Yet [View article]
Azz which is closer to the truth, the recovery? Or the bankruptcy? It can't be both.. Which of those two outcomes has most definitely NOT occurred, and which one are longs and shorts debating?

Since Chen took over a year ago the shareholders have seen the BlackBerry rise over 60%, wouldn't that sort of end that discussion as to which one of these outcomes WS agrees with?

  • BlackBerry Estimates Decline As Earnings Approach [View article]
Angelica1 still waiting for your own speculation.....

You know, that speculation about that $5 to $7 BB-SP to materialize...in regards to your post "you post literally 1000's of words daily most of which are speculatory"-----

Well, your current clip is for an average of 12.7 per day for astonishing 4,623 posts per year!!

    (190P/15DX 365D=4,623 Posts)

I am at 1070 for almost 2 years...(it would have been 1100 but 'someone' keeps having over 30 of them deleted the past few days, I wonder why..)

Despite not a full quarter of Passport, no Bes12, and no Classic, Chen et al managed to eak out a profit... how will that go when Bes12 kicks in and Classic?

If they managed to not lose money this past quarter, you must be more than a little concerned... I recommend increasing your current pace to over 5000 posts per year its really only 1 mor epost a day Angelica... surely to to from 12.7 to 13.7 isn't too big an effort and perhaps the sheer volume of 5000 annual comments will bring blackberry to it's knees :)

Tighter integration of BB,Android..Google Lollipop and BES12: Better Together
    http://blck.by/1zNP3D4

‎"BlackBerry plans to release another new smartphone by June 2015. This particular device N4BB will informally dub the “BlackBerry Gladiator” as its primary focus is going to battle.‎That battle is with users’ minds and convincing them they’ll no longer need two phones. Chen didn’t give any additional details about the device. Perhaps, it is the device with this unique convertible keyboard design, which is allegedly codenamed the BlackBerry “Visa” and “Victoria.”
2015 will certainly make for an interesting year in the BlackBerry turnaround story. Chen has stated the company will return to profitability by next year. In fact, Chen says the company’s odds of returning to black is now 99 percent certainty.

See Chen discuss all of this in the interview video here."‎

  • Blackphone Takes Aim At BlackBerry [View article]
Azazello, Kia comes off as reasonable and not 'propagandistic', but then makes such statements as the $3/4 Billion comfort guarantee that doesn't use up $90 B MC vodafone's line of credit, nor BlackBerry's.. a beautiful use of govt power to allow Vodafone to sell a $ billion worth of BlackBerry devices and services! (assuming 25% markup) -- his statement that this is a bad thing for BlackBerry, blew my mind. If it was apple/vodafone's deal, it would be a great deal, and possibly another proverbial "nail in the coffin" for BlackBerry methinx..

Please look at this here deal, from a global perspective, sans of bias..on what planet could this possibly be construed as bad? Yet this is what Kia did..yet you say blKia is "less propagandistic than the longs".. if you can show me a example of bias with more utility than that..

  • Update: BlackBerry Earnings Down But Not Out [View article]
BlackBerry had a backlog of Thorsten era shipped but not sold, that continued on these last 2 quarters..these sales occurred in 2014 but we're not recognised . because the back logged 2013 sales had to be reconciled.
Going forward the predictions that have been made today will fall by the wayside same as Stormin Norman@s this will.but $3 by Christmas...

Predictions were made like Angelica said $5 SP in 2015, and also A1 said that BlackBerry would end it's device business in 2015..

Good luck to Longs next quarter..revenue not great but this may be the bottom that Chen said we had to hit...200 new foot soldiers to knock on doors, full quarter of passport, 2/3 of a quarter on classic, Bes12, a new device in Barcelona, and the cessation of ip payments, and of course more improvement in fcf and profit is what I will be looking for in March.

  • BlackBerry Finally Takes E-Commerce Seriously, Hardware Looking Bullish [View article]
Not correct JF, not all... many holders of BlackBerry common also hold the Apple.

And why does Apples success mean BlackBerry's failure. And BlackBerry's success mean Apples failure? Does not Mercedes Benz and Ferrari both compete successfully at hugely different volumes? Good for Apple they earned their success, just like BlackBerry did, and screwed it all up back in the day..still they are fcf positive, and profitable on 800m, what will the profit be when they are back to $ 1.5 Billion?
