  • Positive early reaction to Wal-Mart's checking account plan [View news story]
Love it. WMT is a great fixed income/stealth financial play.

  • Google selects HTC for new Nexus tablet [View news story]
My HTC inspire was complete garbage. Much happier with Samsung since that first phone (to be fair, I've not gone back to HTC since, because of such a bad experience).

  • Judge tells GM to open defect files [View news story]
Yup, despite the "value" that the GM longs on SA will continue to purport on this site. A cheap valuation will never account for the reputational hit this company has taken, period

  • The Bull Trap That Is Philip Morris International [View article]
I think MO might be the better subject of an article like this with changing habits in the US.

  • Coach May Have 40% Upside, Provided Near-Term Execution Goes Smoothly [View article]
"In addition, the company's consumers are largely fickle."

Key point out of the whole article. The purse space is a competitive industry lately. It's not just KORS, but also Vera Bradley, Kate Spade etc.

COH has traditionally been a lux retailer but they went "cheap" with more and more outlet sales and promos. They are in an identity crisis, and the people who should go long are the ones wiling to trust management to execute the necessary transformation in this company

  • Seadrill: Lessons From The Frontline [View article]
"In the past 4 months, on Yahoo, I have seen futures prices for oil below $90.00 per bbl in 2015 16 and 17. I think the lowest price was about $82.00 per bbl. This has me confused. If the price of oil does go below $80.00 per bbl, then buying companies like SDRL at todays prices is very risky."

Absolutely correct. DWD is the expensive way to get oil. It requires triple-digit prices to be viable.

  • Why You Should Sell Bristol-Myers Squibb And Buy Johnson & Johnson Instead [View article]
I agree as well. BMY has that "bio-techy" pipeline and valuation to go with it. Personally, I'd own both. JNJ is the safer big blue-chip play, and at nearly just 1/4 the market cap, BMY is the growthier risk-on play. Both pay a dividend.

Disclosure: long and DRIPping both for several years

Watching the Jon Stewart clip was amusing but IMO there was NOTHING material in it to sink or help BUD (if anything it was slightly pro-BUD).

So true. There is so much ra-ra pro-driller garbage lately. It's nice to read something relevant and to the point.

Minus last the sentence trying to shill something.

As usual, RE is very local. In the nice bay area, SoCal and NE markets, this stuff doesn't apply.
