I was on the phone with a member of the CME this morning. I was notified that you can no longer set up large contracts to take delivery on precious metals. Watch the price move now. Call THEM if you don't believe me.

These are Chinese factory workers being held to standards that are much higher than the junk that they are used to churning out. Not even a blip on the radar, just all part of the game.

I have to disagree, the probability of their market cap increasing, after stock split, due to investor psychology greatly increases.

I have enjoyed this article's comment section. Everyone has been taking various perspectives and opinions in judging ATVI. I choose it for an investment going forward for several reasons. The new console cycle is beginning. We are entering the video game cycle in my opinion and I believe content is king. You have a highly profitable company, with a pile of cash, and a library worth many times that. No matter which revenue stream you pursue, it all starts with content. I want the one that possesses the best/most content. We can debate for the next five years who has the best single game at any point in time in any particular category. I see only two companies that have and proved to have staying power and in this order 1.ATVI 2.EA. The golden rule - the one that has the gold makes the rules. I don't see any large downside risk in such an asset rich company. Gamestop, console makers, and/or cable company direct delivery strategy do not exist without content. The upside could be shocking and will come hard and fast IMHO. Good things come to those that wait :) I am long at 11.81 in ATVI.

I enjoy an intelligent and professional comment like yours. I would like to build off several of your points. ATVI has never had a quarter with so many blockbusters being released as we will see in the fourth quarter. The new console cycle is already under way with Nintendo moving first with their new Wii. I also agree that is the best time to be in this sector and the wise investors make their move slightly ahead of this cycle. Observe the price action in ATVI the past few days and observe Friday's volume which signals strong ACCUMULATION. The merger you speak about in 2008 looks like it is setting up to be repeated either thru a third party buyout or ATVI possibly buying out Vivendi. This I feel would cause a similar significant spike in price. This being the longest console cycle ever is well planned out and the timing is perfect with an economy that is still struggling, but recovering and will bring video games back in the spotlight. Everyone is in agreement ATVI is the dominant player in this industry. They have also made unprecedented partnerships in China with sound revenue strategy that will make sure they do not lose their revenues to bootlegging. They have also made the successful transition to mobile with number one titles in the App store over the last year. With all this being said and taking into effect inflation on products and company's stock prices I see ATVI moving again to new all time highs with this upcoming record breaking quarter and very feasible buyout as catalysts. This is a company that is sitting on approximately two billion dollars in cash.
I am long ATVI at 11.81

When you factor in inflation on game prices, subscriptions, in game products etc., it is not hard to see 20.00 price target. The other thing you have to consider is we are about to start a ne console cycle. Ex. New Wii from Nintendo. This is the spot that patience and/or vision will pay pay off in video game retail. Also with times being tough parents will be thrilled to find a past time for their children that only costs a few dollars a month and can provide entertainment at a sub one dollar per hour average cost including console costs and game purchases.

As I stated in the article I feel they are going to have a RECORD BREAKING fourth quarter. IMO Vivendi is going to than be positioned to either sell their stake to Activision or a third party at a healthy premium. I wouldn't be surprised if we test and break 2008 highs and see a twenty dollar stock price. The buy out offers/rumors will probably start swirling soon. Tomorrow should start bringing attention to ATVI and put in play. If you look at Friday's price action it appears SERIOUS accumulation took place. Good luck and I hope you continue to write and improve.

The new expansion of World of Warcraft comes out tomorrow 9/25, so I don't know why you are referencing expansions that are very old. Pandaria is going to be released in China on 10/5 with a revenue stream strategy that makes it near impossible to bootleg.
Skylanders new version "Giants" comes out on 11/21, so again I don't know why you are referencing an old version. With that said the last version was off the carts in game sales and merchandising.
The new Call of Duty is going to be released on 11/13. This is another top franchise in the world. In August Activision partnered with a Chinese company to release Call of Duty there. Just like with World of Warcraft the way revenue stream is setup makes it next to impossible to bootleg and play in community.
As if the prior things mentioned are not enough they will be releasing Angry Birds for consoles on 11/16. Activision has also had number one games in the mobile app store over the last few months.
IMO your article is misleading, poorly researched, and holds little value to your readers. Activision IMO is setup to have a record breaking fourth quarter and firmly establish itself as the "best of breed" in video game retailing.
I iniated my long position at 18.81 several days ago. I would like to ask the author when he initiated a short position since he is so negative on ATVI's future. I know my money is where my mouth is, I doubt very highly the author has any money behind his opinion.

  • What You Need To Know About 'World Of Warcraft' That Analysts Are Ignoring [View article]
No one would debate the free pass is being used to hold up sub numbers and keep accounts active for the upcoming release of Pandaria. It is hard to keep players like yourself "brc" deeply involved when you already maxed out your characters, experienced virtually everything in the game, and I are yearning for new challenges, characters, abilities, and foes(new gamers). I think you may find the experience enlightening and challenging as ATVI reaches deeper into Asia and you have new international foes and/or friends.
Blizzard can listen to ten million customers and yet it is almost 100% impossible to COMPLETELY satisfy any group/individual. The features some of you don't want may enhance and/or help others.
My advice to you is not to throw the towel in on something you have invested seven years in that you have enjoyed and have a lot of friends in. Also don't rush to judgement without even trying the completed and community. If you keep giving up on everything in life that you find something that you don't like, you will always be in a state of negativity, anger, and disappointment. I learned that from experience in life, business, and trying to be a parent. Plenty of time to think about and I hope you send me a personal message a week after launch and give me a report on your experience. Stay positive and positive things happen.
I am long ATVI at 11.81 and expect good things this month :)
