"There are only four sources of high-quality maps," Google, Waze, Navteq, and TomTom (TMOAF.PK), says Rolfe Winkler, and given Facebook's rumored $1B acquisition of Waze, TomTom may become an attractive takeover target for the likes of Apple (AAPL) and others who, while able to drive a hard bargain on map licensing fees, may prefer to bid for the Netherlands-based company rather than worry that a rival will acquire it. TomTom trades at an EV/EBITDA ratio of just 6x. (From December: Rabobank puts AAPL/TomTom odds at 30%)

Cosi (COSI -13.7%) takes a double-digit dive after its Q1 report misses by what might fairly be called a "wide margin". Revenues fall 13% Y/Y due to store closures and lower comps. Comps breakdown: -6.6% and -1.3% for company-owned restaurants and franchise-operated locations respectively. From the CC: "Dinner [is] where we took the greatest [comp percent] hit." Summing it up is CEO Carin Stutz: "Q1 results were unacceptable … [if] profitable sales [are] the measure of our success … we have not succeeded." Northland Capital rubs a little salt in the wound, downgrading the shares to Market Perform from Outperform (see analyst Chris Krueger's Q&A on the CC).

Thanks David, that's a particularly useful example of interstate differences. Of course, and obviously, there are way more ICE vehicles in CA than Wyoming, so your point/case is even more poignant!

More from Google I/O: 1) In a salvo aimed at Facebook, Skype, WhatsApp, and other messaging rivals, Google is tying its messaging services (Talk, Voice, etc.) into a single platform/app called Hangouts; it was previously rumored to be named Babble. 2) Google+ has been overhauled to feature a card-based design that echoes Google Now, and automatically add links/tags to uploaded content. Chances are Facebook isn't too worried for now. 3) Google tries to bolster the Chromebook's education market momentum by launching Play for Education, a custom app store for schools/students. Apple has also been aggressively targeting the education market. (live blog)

Shares of Tesla Motors (TSLA) move up 2.3% premarket as last week's earning report euphoria doesn't show any early signs of fading. Pacific Crest may have seen enough of the momentum/short squeeze run, warning that over the long term the automaker needs to ramp up gross margins to 25% from 5% and demonstrate sustainable demand.

For those still keeping score, Tesla (TSLA) added another 14.38% to last week's post-earnings bonanza , bringing the three-day total percentage change to +57%. Amusingly, the rally didn't let up AH either, as the stock tacked on an additional 2.51%, hitting $90 just before 8 p.m.
