  • Apple: Learn From Andy Zaky's Mistake  [View article]
    Why can't you do both?

I'm one of those who bought AAPL really early, 1999, 2000, 2001, and 2007. I considered purchasing more in 2010 but the valuation did not make sense, I did not believe the stock could go up forever.

Profit wise I'm way ahead a 9-bagger! But I'm not totally stupid, cashed out my initial investment when stocked crossed 600, and at the 52 week low took my "profit" off the table.

Like Rookie, I still think it will go lower from here, but I believe there should be solid turnaround by May.

I bought a little INTC, which is flat Ashraf, Iwhy do you think it is going up? I bought a few GOOG, considered increasing my BRK.B but I think I'm too late. But basically I'm cautiously waiting to get back into AAPL.

Of course as a power user of Apple products, I will always be labeled a fanboy, but as an investor I'm nowhere near a Zakhite!

  • Foxconn has begun production of an iPhone 5S (AAPL) that looks much like the iPhone 5, claims Japanese blog MacOtakara, which has a mixed track record (I, II) with iScoops. MacOtakara also reports NTT DoCoMo (DCM) has slashed Android phone orders for the fall, which is fueling speculation an iPhone deal is on the way. Jefferies' Peter Misek argued last month preparation for March iPhone 5S production could be responsible for new iPhone order cuts. Possible/likely suppliers: CRUS, OVTI, SWKS, TQNT, AVGO, QCOM, BRCM, NTE, MFLX, LPL. (yesterday[View news story]
@Jeff, A dropped connection is a carrier issue not a maps issue!

@Bill, there's a whole lot of posters that don't realize that there are features on Apple Maps that just are not on Google and vice versa. I've stopped using my cars GPS and gone completely to Waze (awesome traffic) and Apple Maps, prior to Apple Maps Google did not have turn to turn so I never used it. Most people don't seem to recall the latter!

I'd beg to differ, at least here on the west coast!

What you youngsters don't realize is that the "Think Different" early adopters, circa 1997, are us 50 year olders! HA

I had my first job at 26 bought an Macintosh LC and have bought nothing but Apple ever since. Shoot I'm not only an early adopter, but it's folks like me that define Apply Loyalty! If Apple makes it I need it!

So next time you see a 50 year older with an Apple product clapse their shoulder and say thank you, dang it!

the reality is somewhere in between, it's better to say "Apple maps is constantly being fixed."

True - in the Bay area and other US locales Apple maps is better at what it provides
True - in some countries 3D and navigation still needs work

Does this mean Apple is better or Google is worse? Depends when you are and what you use it for.

thanks for the link ciolan <in a serious attempt to make an honest observation> ... it looks to me like Cook makes an AAPL sell every March, with the exception of 2009, ah let's see ...
January 2009, Steve Jobs out on medical leave
April 2009, Steve Jobs liver transplant
June 2009, Steve Jobs medical leave over(?)

No story here, Tim Cook systematically and regularly sells AAPL stock every March, let's see if it will hold for 3/2013?

Cook on Android's share gains: "There's a button or two we could press to make the most [devices] .... That would not be good for Apple." right on, ".long aapl products the best in class....."

I would just encourage a little patience with management, we are still within the historic window for disruptive products yes?

I know its been said ad nauseum but ...
    1998 iMac
    2001 iPod
    2003 iTunes/App Store milestones
2005 Tim Cook COO, we often forget this eh?
    2007 iPhone
    2010 iPad

I would suggest that there is no Moore's law for disruptive products regardless of what "traders" want.

The hands down most disruptive company on the planet, in modern history, can only manage a new product every 3 or so years, I just don't see how armchair quarterbacks are getting this irrational exuberance that the timetable can be compressed any further? And this irrationality after a record year of R&D spending!

2014 is the year the sleeping giant awakes! ... after that I'll be intolerant too!

  • Apple - Better As A Villager Than A Chief  [View article]
Two other Apple citings in the real world:
    1) I'm shopping for a Prius plug-in and Toyota is offering "Entunes" a play on iTunes for sure, but even better a way to move your iTunes Store apps to the cars Multifunction-display and touted as a seamless way for iPhone users to have their tech and eat it too.
    2) I'm shopping at Sears for a workout mat and for a second I thought I was at the Apple Store. Being test driven in NorCal are the register on your phone units like in the Apple store.

My point is that the iPhone continues to disrupt and the expansion to corporate, if we exand our minds to think "Corporate" is more than MS Office, ... the expansion to corporate is alive and well. That is, iPhone is disrupting even how corporations define the user experience to their customers.
