Baxter International (BAX) slips 2.2% premarket after Phase III testing on its Alzheimer's drug immunoglobulin (IG) - always a long shot - failed to meet its co-primary endpoints. (PR) [View news story]
Baxter is a great company which I have owned for over 20 years. This is but a bump in the road for them...I am proud to be a shareholder of a company that has helped countless people have a better quality of life.
Six months ago, SA author Lawrence Meyers said CMG is a "positively must sell stock"...since then it is up 44%...do any of the SA authors REALLY know what they are talking about?
Should General Electric Spin Off GE Capital? [View article]
Like it or not...GE is a huge financial stock...getting rid of Immelt (only 2 "m"'s by the way) would make GE a better company...too bad that Jack Welch did not fire him when he was screwing up the plastics division.
What Is Johnson & Johnson's Fair Value After Invokana Approval? [View article]
Good article on this healthcare behemoth...lots of numbers, facts and figures...BUT...I did not read anything on the hip recall lawsuit issue. I am afraid this will continue to be an albatross around JNJ's neck...thank you for the article...I am (really) long JNJ.

SM, surely you are not comparing Intuitive's single innovative idea (without da Vinci where would they be??) with JNJ's? As for a moat, I think JNJs' is it's employees as well as it's rare (I believe there are only 4) AAA+ credit rating.

jnickola...I would suggest buying it on dips, especially any 7%+ downturn...also, dollar cost average if you can do it. Stock is up 44.5% over the last year, hope you bought it over a year ago!
The Power Of Patience: The Investment Case For Intel [View article]
LaMar...and Alex..."INTC is a mature stock"...but IMHO, still a "speculative" growth play. I am long INTC and have continued to buy it since 1995. Current margins have beaten the stock down, but with their technology and CA$H ($18B +), INTC is not sitting out the Smart phone dance! I think (again, IMHO) they will come back with a vengeance that we have all seen before. I know almost nothing about chips (except the potato kind), but I think I know a well run company when I see it. Thanks for the article!
Johnson & Johnson A Stable Long-Term Buy [View article]
Thanks for the article...but I see JNJ overvalued at this point. Also, the hip litigation is an albatro$$ for this company. I would be a buyer below $67.
Johnson & Johnson (JNJ) has reportedly offered to pay more than $200k per hip case, for a settlement that would top $2B. Johnson & Johnson (JNJ -0.2%) and Zimmer Holding (ZMH -1.8%) have been the subject of thousands of patient lawsuits for their metal-on-metal hip implants, which have been linked to almost 16,800 adverse events in the U.S. between 2000 and 2011. If I am not mistaken, it's $200K ! per hip...correct me if I am wrong.
