  • Is It Better To Invest All At Once In A Lump Sum, Or Little By Little Over Time (By Dollar Cost Averaging)? [View article]
Most retail investors, as many studies have shown, seem to always buy when the market is UP...a bad investing idea. In addition, with many lump sum investors, the LUMP is not very big. DCA is more affordable for the average family.
    Good investing to all.

  • Intel: Why One Of Seeking Alpha's Biggest Bulls Sold His Shares [View article]
With all due respect, I got nothing out of this article about INTC, except that it made you feel better about selling. In addition, why not take a good portion of your profits off the table and play with the houses' money with a down stop loss as Ernie Mac suggested above?

RH, thank you for the informative article. You have helped me make an investment decision in JNJ for my grandchild. A ten year chart also gives JNJ a slight advantage (4%) over the S&P500 index...without paying the expenses of a managed index mutual fund. Great investing to all.

For what it's worth, I'm a small retail investor (like many of you I think...) and have owned INTC since 1992. I know very little about SOC's or fabrication and INTC was paying a .03 cents per share dividend when I first bought it! With it's balance sheet, debt and R&D, I think it's worth holding at least some in every portfolio.
    Good investing to all.

  • General Electric Has Had A Nice Ride Up [View article]
Ross, your thinking about this "mutual fund" is flawed. It has under performed it's peers...by quite a bit. Compare GE with VDIGX or HON for example.

Mary...I am anything but a financial brain, but I would certainly suggest looking into JNJ, MMM, KMB, ED, AWR and the like. They are what I call SWAN stocks (Sleep Well At Night). JNJ has increased dividends for the past 51 years!
But use caution...this market has been running up to the point that it is ahead of itself (IMHO). Wait for pullbacks of 10-15%...and there will be pullbacks.

Richmond...agreed, I will make a note on my calendar for a look back in 6 mos and a year ...BTW I never called GE a "dead" company...I said "The stock has basically been dead money". I think GE is an innovative company with many great employees...and have owned it for many years as well.
