  • 5 Reasons Apple Is A Bad Bet [View article]
I was shocked at your lack of knowledge about the factories making Apple products. Have you ever even been to China? How many factories have you gone through? Jobs at factories that make Apple products are considered very desirable. I have been in well over 100 factories in China. I have seen many pictures inside factories that make Apple products. The factories making Apple products are clearly superior to almost all factories I have seen. People love to work there. Yes there have been some suicides but how do we know that this had anything to do with Apple? Foxconn has a million workers and between 14 and 17 committed suicide which is terrible. China's suicide rate is 22 for every 100,000(220 per million) people, one of the highest in the world. Consider this.

When the new iPad is released in China it will do very well. I have to lock mine in the hotel safe when I do not take it along with me for a meeting. Everyone I run into wants one. By the way, they all want a real one not a fake.
I just can not believe how many "experts" missed the China factor. If you were there for any length of time you could clearly see what was happening.
Congratulations to Weezy. His insight was great. I hope he continues to write for seeking Alpha.

    Mr. Weinstein

I have been all over Shanghai and many other cities in China. Why in the world would I want to stay close to hotels? I am a very busy business person that works close to 60 hours a week.

You mentioned that you went shopping in cities that had no Westerners within 50 miles. That is hard to find these days except in small towns. Do these small towns give you an accurate picture of China and what is going on? My experience is in larger cities and most big name department stores no longer sell fakes. They are sold in what my friends call "fake" malls. EVERBODY knows that there are fakes for sale at these malls. Almost every booth sells fake items.

I think that is great that your 8 year old can count to 100 in Chinese. Maybe he can go to 200 next year. However, this has nothing to do with an iPhone.

There are fakes in China but there also tons of real iPhones.

    Mr. Weinstein,
I have been to China 53 times in the last 20 years. When I am there I work during the day and at night and on weekends shop. The majority of the people that buy fakes in China are NOT Chinese. The Chinese want real. People, especially Americans, are the ones buying the fake products. Years ago a Chinese woman might buy a fake but a much much higher percentage want the real thing. I was at the largest "fake" mall in Shanghai 3 weeks ago. I do not think that I saw any Chinese people buying fakes.

I am sure that when you were in China someone stopped you and wanted to sell you a fake Rolex. They selected an American because it is getting harder to find a Chinese that would want one.

For Pete sakes the bellboy offered me $1000.00 for my 4S prior to it's introduction China.

I have been in China numerous times including twice in the last 5 months for a total of 3 weeks. There are iPhones everywhere. I am seeing people outside of the upper class (clerks, bellboys etc.) with these phones. Because I am long Apple I made it a point to ask numerous Chinese people about Apple products. At present, the Chinese love them!

Like the author of this article, I am shocked at some of the analyst that are not aware of the iPhone popularity in China. They need to spend some time in China. I did not sell my shares this week because I knew that the sales in China will be incredible.

  • Why The Verizon Data Freaked Apple Shareholders [View article]
I have been in China twice for several weeks in the last few months. During my first visit, right after the new iPhone was introduced, I brought mine with me. I can not begin to tell you how much the Chinese love this phone. The bellboy offered to buy the phone from me for $1000.00 US. Where he would get the money I do not know. I had the new iPad with me on my last visit. Again the reception was like nothing like I have ever seen. The Chinese as a whole love Apple products. It is a status symbol.

Because I am long Apple I asked everyone that I came in contact with 3 weeks ago in China if they liked the Apple products. I was told over and over again they would give up almost anything for an iPhone or iPad. On my last trip I saw a lot of iPhones. I think most were real. You take it from there. Apple will do very well in China this year.
