Thirty nine billion in borrowing to .... buyback shares to offset the dilution caused by stock options for executives and board members. It's okay we will finance it over forty years at about a point and a half you won't even notice it.

Wasn't the press telling us about a month ago that the new Saudi leader was suffering from dementia? It appears that the press might be suffering from it more.

    Buckoux,
Feel sorry for Uncle Sam? I don't think so. I don't know what you're reading into that statement other than your own agenda. Nobody inferred that my imaginary government check will cease. On the contrary it would be ever more a burden on taxpayers to pay even more taxes on the deficit spending orgy of the last few years.
You are right the government always pays its bills in depreciation of its currency and inflation.

Local governments are real big on subsidizing all kinds of projects. Is is real easy for them to pledge taxpayers equity for all kinds of speculative projects. Under higher rates it would stymie the more speculative ones which I believe would be good.

    JC,
My comment was just an observation and not an opinion.

I can't help but wonder what will happen to the debt service bill for the U.S. in and environment of higher rates.

Earnings seem to be lackluster yet markets are booming. Much of the gas for the markets is from stock buybacks. Will the buybacks be as popular under higher interest rates?

    Just wondering

February - March 2015 ... Be careful we might have to raise interest rates in June.

April - May 2015 .... Be careful we might have to raise interest rates in the fall.

    ....And so it goes.
