  • Tesla Is Grossly Overvalued... Right Here, Right Now [View article]
Filling up at a station, takes me 15 minutes from home just to drive to the nearest one.

Filling up at home, just requires plugging into the wall in my garage. I'm glad I put in a welding outlet in my garage when I built my home. It will be easy to convert when the time comes.

I'm not trying to defend anyone, other than realize, owning a Tesla could save time and gas avoiding having to drive to a station to fill up on occasion. And yes, I realize most of the time I would swing into a service station on my way to somewhere, so 15 minutes might be a bogus claim in general.

  • Tesla's China Dreams May Be In Trouble [View article]
The author is short Tesla. His thesis is highly speculative. Given the run up, if I was short Tesla, I'd be desparate too.

On a positive note, Tesla broke ground recently for one of it's Giga-factories some 10 or so miles from my home. This is very good news for our local economy. I've made enough money on Tesla to buy one - which I'm seriously considering.

  • Under Armour: Welcome Back To Earth [View article]
After seeing Kate getting severely whacked today after gapping up briefly on earnings, for, what appears to be, for mentioning the prospect of offering discounts on some of their merchandize.....

What would make UA immune to short sellers also taking down UA's stock if UA were to mention future discounts? Just asking.

  • American Capital - An Attractive Stock In The Agency Mortgage REIT Space [View article]
I like your optimism and your reasoning. Since I have a rather large position I decided to buy $22 puts at a very cheap price a week ago just in case. I'm thinking puts wouldn't be as cheap as they were if there was much real risk for AGNC dropping much below where it is at now. Either way, any worried AGNC investor might consider buying puts for cheap insurance.

  • An Update Of Uni-Pixel's Production Status [View article]
The word "pilot production" appears to have been enough of a deception to fool a lot of after hours investors (almost, including myself). Last year I made a lot of money, first investing in UNXL, then realizing it wasn't an investment and getting out, and finally swing trading UNXL. I was tempted to short UNXL when it was still up in the 30's, but couldn't find the shares to short.

  • An Update Of Uni-Pixel's Production Status [View article]
I went to UNXL website and found this news release dated today. After hours is still up by roughly 15%. Is the key word "pilot" production? If so, that was enough to deceive me, at least enough, to ask further.

"UniPixel Achieves Roll-to-Roll Pilot Production of InTouch Sensors

Company to Hold Conference Call at 4:30 PM ET Today

THE WOODLANDS, Texas — June 25, 2014 — UniPixel, Inc. (NASDAQ: UNXL), a provider of Performance Engineered FilmsTM to the touch screen, flexible printed electronics and display markets, has achieved roll-to- roll pilot production of its InTouch SensorsTM, a projected capacitive, multi-touch sensor film.

    Advancement Highlights
 Achieved technical breakthrough in roll-to-roll plating process.
 Transitioned from lab-based development to roll-to-roll pilot production.
 Technical work streams now focused on ramping roll-to-roll manufacturing yields.

UniPixel has achieved a breakthrough in the roll-to-roll plating process, overcoming previously reported challenges through modification of hardware and chemistry configurations. The new process conditions have been successfully demonstrated in the roll-to-roll pilot production process, achieving a step-change improvement in plating fine-line conductive elements on its touch sensor film.
The company now has a fully-functional, roll-to-roll pilot production line comprised of a plating line at the company’s Texas facility, and printing, final testing and packaging at the Kodak facility, a state-of-the-art manufacturing and testing facility within the Eastman Business Park in Rochester, New York. UniPixel and Kodak have begun conducting roll-to-roll pilot manufacturing and yield studies on the overall process, as well as technology transfer of the modified process to production plating assets in the Kodak facility.
“Since our last quarterly report in May, our teams have made tremendous progress in further advancing our roll-to-roll printing manufacturing process, finalizing the ink and substrate, and resolving the major roll-to-roll plating technical challenges,” said Jeff Hawthorne, president and CEO of UniPixel. “Having achieved roll-to-roll pilot production capability, we are now focused on ramping overall product yields, as well as utilizing the pilot line to scale hardware, processes and manufacturing procedures, and to validate product quality criteria for volume production.”
To reduce development complexity and speed the time-to-market of UniPixel’s first InTouch Sensors Powered by Kodak product, UniPixel and Kodak technical work streams have been primarily focused on an initial development project for the tablet market and working closely with a certain tablet manufacturer. According to DisplaySearch, the tablet sensor segment is growing at 9% CAGR to 448 million units shipped annually by 2018.
UniPixel continues to make progress on the newly established product and technology development roadmap that next addresses the larger form factor, all-in-one PC market. The company is running concurrent development projects to support release of an all-in-one touch sensor product.
In addition to making progress with its roll-to-roll touch sensor manufacturing process, the company has advanced its Diamond GuardTM hard-coat resin technology. UniPixel has successfully coated PET film with Diamond Guard hard-coat resin at a pilot production coating facility using production-length film coating trial runs. The company continues to work to scale resin and coating technology to a full production quality, film product. Diamond Guard’s pilot coating ranges from 4H to 6H hardness levels, as compared to most hard coat alternatives that range from 2H to 3H. The Diamond Guard coating performance attributes have generated attention from a number of coaters who are interested in working with the company.
The company plans to provide an update on the progress towards achieving volume touch sensor production in the second half of 2014 during the upcoming second quarter earnings call in early August."

  • An Update Of Uni-Pixel's Production Status [View article]
    Richard,

Interesting. The after-hours market appears to have responded sharply up to the Marketwired newswire release at 16:01 today. So then, did UNXL conference call at 16:30 confirm your thesis? I haven't listened to the conference call. I only was aware of the alert UNXL shares were up sharply after hours. I almost put in an after hours buy order based on Marketwired newswire release. I'll hold off buying for now.

  • An iWatch Cannot Move The Needle Much [View article]
Imagine if the iWatch were one day to be covered by medical insurance for certain chronic medical conditions that need monitoring. I have a medical conditions that is presently being monitored with data being sent in by cellular. My monitor is completely covered by medical insurance and likely costs a lot more than an iWatch will. Just food a thought. I'd love something as small as an iWatch compared to my present setup.

Opinions are like 'holes, everyone has them.

I do better reading charts than opinions. For the time being I'm plus AMZN buying back in at 300, and that's the way I like it.

Not that it means much, but everyone I know buys lots of stuff from Amazon, including myself. If they aren't making profits as you say, then at least for now, I am.

  • Uni-Pixel: Still The Best Investment For 2013 [View article]
It seems, at least to me, that Mr. Z is the big winner in this spitting contest. Mr Z called the near term outcome correctly; that is, UNXL would fall below $5 a share. My reference to him as "Mr. Z" was meant mainly affectionately and respectively. Mr Z and I have had a few congenial discussions that don't show up here. For us Zorro fans, "Z" is the sign of Zorro, who was well known for his swordsmanship skills of slicing and dicing up the front side of shirts of his opponents.

    UNXL could of would of....

  • Why You Should Buy This 10-Bagger's Dip [View article]
I bought out of the money call options on the dip a week ago. I'm already quite pleased that I did. I agree with your thesis about fundamentals. Until I see a handle form on the cup, call options might be a less expensive play to get exposure.

  • Uni-Pixel: Bright Future Promised By Clouding The Gruesome Reality For The Less Informed [View article]
Mr Z, you certainly deserve recognition now the end is getting nearer. You were certainly attached and vilified, as were most everyone else trying to put up a red flag or two. Kudos for your early warnings. I hope you made enough money off of shorting UNXL to further your goals. Still hasn't dropped back below $5 yet, though, has it?

  • UniPixel delays InTouch sensor production to Q2, shares -5.4% AH [View news story]
Is it finally time to write an eulogy and put this "Stephen King" novel to rest? I kind of feel sorry for Chris Hoffman, giving consideration to his bulldog persistence and herculean due diligence effort.

  • Uni-Pixel: Still The Best Investment For 2013 [View article]
"Uni-Pixel: Still The Best Investment For 2013"

Happy New Year to all investors.

2013 has come and gone and UNXL is among one of this years price losers for 2013.

    It opened Jan 3, 2013 at $13.70 and closed Dec 31, 2013 at $10.01.

It was a winner for me (I got out for the most part in the 30's) but certainly, far from being the best of the best. The best winner for me was ACAD, giving credit to SamasaricSuffer for the tip.

So, in retrospect, what lessons can an investor take away from having "invested" in UNXL?

For me, it reinforced to be wary of excessive hype that can't be verified one way or the other.
