      Alcoa to Take $845 Million in Q3 Charges
      Any ideas on who Alcoa is selling these units to? The blog NewsVisual had an interesting take on this, they suggested that one future buyer could be the Tata Group of India www.newsvisual.com/new... Ratan Tata (Chairman of Tata) is currently a Director at Alcoa. The Tata Group has the industrial size, global reach, and capital to make a significant offer on at least some of these divisions.

      This deal may have been easier to negotiate than people think, according to research the executives had corporate ties through GE, Lockheed, and Honeywell www.newsvisual.com/new... . This might have helped ease some of the negotiations.

      BofA and JPM to Write Down Total of $3 Billion - Analyst
      Well, at least JPMorgan's and BofA's write-down is not as bad as some of the other financial firms. Whether we are just seeing the tip of the iceberg and this continues into the 4th quarter remains to be seen, I think. I still feel that overall most of these firms have solid BODs with tons of experience that should help them make the right moves.
