  • Avoid REIT, Small Cap And Value ETFs [View article]
Has the spread on MBS decreased due to the Fed purchasing and made it more expensive for MBS? When the Fed gets out of purchasing MBS, will the spreads increase and make it cheaper for mREITS to purchase MBS? Also, Is not refinancing activity lowest in awhile good for returns?

  • 15.6% Dividend Payer New York Mortgage Trust's Diversification Is Paying Off [View article]
I was buying because I didn't trust the stock market highs and gold was too high. Does anybody else think people are rotating out of these into the stock market right now because they are trusting the rally more.

  • For Nokia, Microsoft Is Dead Weight [View article]
I've been an android user since the beginning. I'm waiting for Verizon to get a better Windows Phone. I have been using Windows 8. I like it. Office is what I use, too. With the Windows phone, it will make everything in one. This has been a major draw for me to get a Windows phone and I think this will be the case for a lot of other people. I have purchased MSFT instead of NOK. Also, the prices are coming down for the new Intel I3,I5,I7 computers which I think will spur laptop sales and Windows 8.

  • Apple (AAPL) -1.6% premarket, adding to a 6.4% Wednesday drop that seems to be related to higher margin requirements, though a Digitimes column and even IDC's tablet share forecast have been named as possible reasons. TA believers note shares are nearing a "death cross" - the point where the 50-day moving average drops below the 200-day average. A Birinyi analyst observes Apple has historically struggled in the month following a cross, but outperformed in the following 3 months. Shares are back to trading around 8.4x FY13E EPS exc. cash. [View news story]
If I bought at 250 and my taxes for capital gains next year from 15% to 40%. Would you not sell and take 15% now, then buy in 30 days. I bet in Jan there will be a massive spike when everybody gets back in.

  • A double-take is necessary to believe some of the handles in the mREIT sector, undergoing another savage selloff as the Fed hints at even more QE. The pure-agency REITs - in direct competition with the Fed for paper - are hit hardest. AGNC -3.4%, ARR -8.1%, CMO -4.9%, WMC -7.1%, to name a few. [View news story]
What about the news about principle reduction possibilities? What effect would that have on these stocks? Would that not change book value? So stated book value could not be used to gage value?
