Apple Investors Need to Get a Grip
well im hijacking this thread with a couple of somewhat related comments

i like your dialog enough to add you into my daily apple read (i am long) along with a couple of select others

      suggestion 1
make your site zachbass.com an iphone friendly site layout wise
given your chosen topic it makes sense, that where i read you mostly

      suggestion 2
like you i am frustrated by the ineptitude and agendas of the analysts that analyze business but are not 'in business'
i think you suggested a rating system for them ? so do it, your great with charts and numbers, grab the top 10 ? mark their earnings estimates as a percentage in terms of accuracy by the quarter and offer a cumulative average for each guy, post it right at the top of your site permanently that updates every 90 days
it would get a LOT of attention for you,
and provide a lot of value to individual investors such as myself,

Has Starbucks Bottomed? Not by a Long Shot
here is a true tale, i own a a business district cafe and eatery in stamford ct, cafecaroline.com i jumped through hoops to sell starbucks presuming the cache would be great for our business clientele and great for delivery

starbucks promised me they would not let others very local to me sell starbucks, well that lasted 2 months and they started selling starbucks at one of the office building cafeteria's local to us, curtailing any thoughts of starbucks delivery

we ran with it for about 6months paying a hefty materials premium not only for the coffee but for the paper cups etc after that term my partner and i began to wonder if starbucks brand was actually bringing in additional customers and with limited data (1 store ) we concluded 'no'

so what did we do ? well my partner carolines scoured the land for the best tasting coffee, we rebranded everything to cafe caroline 'MoJo' brand and put it out there and the reaction was...

absolutely NOTHING ! the odd comment here and there people were totall satisfied, our sales go up everymonth about 9-12% because we are new however not factoring this in we do not appear to have any decline is sales whatsoever
we do however save a staggering 61% on the cost of materials

Apple's iPhone to Capture Chinese Internet Market
there is so much nonsense written by supposedly credible sources its refreshing to find real news and an independent opinion as opposed to simply reporting on someone else's report, fabricating stupid headlines or promoting propaganda to suit an agenda
ok i feel better for getting that off my chest.

article make a truly compelling observation about the key factors that will drive chinese consumers to the iphone and absolutely the best reason to go long since its introduction
      the stock at 180 is a steal, i agree 300 in 09
      thanks

Apple Facing Serious Downside Risk - Morgan Keegan
what a light weight downgrade and lightweight report on a report, taking into account only half the factors to paint an innacurate picture
simple price supression to buy into earnings and sell before the call

my sense is aapl overall undertimated sales in this past quarter and the call will be a suprise on the + side, we'll see

Could Modu Be the iPhone Killer?
'Modularity' in most areas of Product Design overpromises and underdelivers and Modu is the perfect example, This product will fail outright let alone fulfil this self serving sensationalist headline.

Todays mobile phone is advancing at breakneck speed to be fully featured, whereby, gps, cameras, music, movies, tv's, radio, recorders, browsers, email, text, sms, credit payment systems, keys, video recorders and projectors will be standard features on the most inexpensive handhelds. A fully featured computer with these and many other features we havent dreamed up yet fully integrated, seamlessly, in a solid state appliance the area of a playing card and only a few mm thick, amazing.

Modu, swimming against the tide is attempting the ultimate act of devolution, reverse darwinism if you like, taking the mobile broadband space and divining it into its messy componant parts while the rest of the market evolves into a fully integrated affordable singular soloution.

I certainly respect Dov Moran's prior accomplishments they are outstanding, but this Product soloution is the answer to a question nobody asked.

Newspapers' iPod Moment Has Arrived - Look Out Below
You have missed the marketing relevence of the iphone, Appl more than anyone understands that they are marketing a multimedia handheld pc that also has phone functionality, that was clear from the key note
However introducing a new class off product into the market presents enormous customer awareness and distribution issues, and therefore slower sales, less revenues and a weak flank for competitors to react and take a bite out of the Appl
Appl therefore had the decision to market this as a new class of product an ipod or a phone, which market is biggest and has the best distribution ? the latter of course
