Talking about honesty in China? Enron, WorldCom, Lucent, the S&L banking debacle, and the MF Global events remind you of honesty in US? just a few examples ....no difference over here but it is better organized and nobody goes to jail

  • Can Russia Cause A Run On U.S. Debt? [View article]
Not highly likely. For starters, ~$5 Trillion is held by other government agencies (the largest being Social Security and the Civil and Military retirement trust funds, ~$4.1 Trillion of that). Another ~$2.2 Trillion? Held by the Federal Reserve. Add US corporations and typical citizens, and you get somewhere in the neighborhood of $4.2 Trillion more held in America.

If my retirement is not there, are you going to guaranteed personally? kind of somewhat naive to believe that the money is there

I don't get it; where does little Luxembourg get the money to buy $135B T bonds? what is their GDP? maybe it should be Belgium

    Economic power?
With a manufacturing based economy- yes
With a financial printing based economy- NICHT

There is "hypocrisy" all around when it comes to international relations. I did not say nor did I mean to imply that Russia has a monopoly on this sort of hypocrisy.

The US has the monopoly in this area since the US$ is the world reserve currency and has the privilege to print but those days are coming to an end; isn't this what Russia and China are all about?

That's why it is called the Russian federation
The US can support those groups and take their gold and resources

    Putin's hypocrisy??

So it is OK for the US to tell Russia to respect international borders when the US doesn't protect its southern borders with all the illegal immigration

Russia today, China tomorrow- that is why they'll stick together

Russia's nuclear option is to cut off natural gas supplies to half of Europe, not selling US treasury debt that it owns.

I disagree; nuclear option is if Russia wants to get paid in euros or gold.

As for China, it is only waiting for the US to collapse on its own and then make its moves; meantime setting up for Yuan currency swaps worldwide and with our friends and reforming the IMF; many analysts don't consider that China might be using the T-bonds to pay real assets in the US or worldwide; my gut feeling tells me that the JP Morgan skyscraper was bought this way
