How Apple's Turnaround And Payback To Shareholders Relate To Actions Semiconductor [View article]
I said other entities they control... if not controlled they certainly have a vested interest in and benefit from these loans and purchases of private companies.

I hope those of you who have purchased can get out quick. ACTS had to restate their financials and in essence they have used accounting tricks to make the company appear to have liquid assets when in reality they have loaned money to other entities they control and keep it on their books as current assets. The current assets they have are nearly useless and their transition to produce software for the android is laughable. They simply took what appeared to them to be a plausible sounding business opportunity and used it as an excuse to unload their investors money into affiliates, while diluting their shareholders stock and repurchasing shares. Maybe they are smart enough to keep it legal as they did restate financials to clarify their behavior but legal or not they are taking all of their shareholders wealth for themselves. I have a strange feeling these optimistic posts are tied to this strategy... the longer the act goes the more they can suck out. Also they could be trading against their press releases.

I'd like it if you didn't post such positive coherent articles and comments... that way people don't start listening and drive up the price before I can take my full position. Got to love Mr. Market and all it's thoughtless sheep. My favorite are those that disclose in their bashings that they are shorting RIMM at $14s a share... how foolish can you be?

Great article. Do you have any source info on the patent values?
Tmab not to be rude but you missed the point and were off base in your explanation on how to calculate liquidation values. Also you were quite arrogant and condescending in your responses. This will probably be taken as an attack which I don't intend but you should exercise some humility and challenge your assumptions or Mr Market will not be good to you.

Haha I have no idea why I read all of that but I agree with DeepValueLover. The past is a very imperfect guide to the future. In my opinion most of the time people are bound to overemphasize what has already taken place. The main thesis of this article, AIG's exposure to European debt, makes a great story but empirically is insignificant. I don't fault anyone for feeling emotional about the story but emotions are a terrible reason for making investment decisions. My advice is to enjoy and profit off of Mr. Market... arguing with him is useless and counter productive.
