  • Vivint Solar: What To Do Now? [View article]
I have to agree with the general feeling in this article and the comments so far. I'm happy to keep hold of VSLR for now, I certainly don't think this is anything to worry about. They just went public at an awkward time in the markets and then solar stocks suffered from the falling price of oil, despite there being very little reason for such correlation [the amount of electricity generated by oil is very small]. In fact, the lower that oil falls the more oil stays in the ground, and the renewable energy conversation grows louder. But that's another story...

Greg Butterfield's share purchasing is certainly good news, and I also like the fact that Blackstone still own 78 percent stake of the company after the IPO. They would know if there were troubling times ahead.

If I had the cash I'd double down on VSLR right now!

  • SolarCity higher following Baird upgrade [View news story]
The dropping oil prices have nothing to do with solar. The amount of electricity that is generated by oil is very small, and lower prices will only result in more oil staying in the ground and more emphasis placed on renewables.

The extent that the dropping price of oil has affected the solar stocks should be seen as a buying opportunity.

  • SunEdison's First Wind Acquisition Is A Game Changer [View article]
mgpagan might be referring to the likelihood that SUNE will be creating another Yieldco focussed on Asia/Africa renewable projects which would include India of course. This idea was talked about publicly a few weeks ago I believe.

  • Audi Confirms 300-Mile Range EV, Plans To Compete With Tesla [View article]
Personally I think that Audi's potential all-electric "family car" is great news for Tesla. Tesla's mission is to accelerate the adoption of electric cars after all – they were never going to be the only company making electric cars, nor did they expect to be. Elon Musk has stated he was surprised no serious competition had stepped up yet.

An increased electric car market will spur competition and lead to superior products for customers to choose between. Some will choose an Audi, some will choose a Tesla, some will choose a BMW. That's what we're all waiting for.

Which BMW power trains are you referring to?

  • Tesla's Quarter: Yet More Delays And Push-Outs [View article]
Your article should perhaps clarify that the 50,000 deliveries number that was talked about for 2015 was Model S deliveries.

tomfrompv, you're doing the classic 'confusing demand with deliveries' again.

As for the rest of your comment, just read the shareholder letter, it's all there.

"Together with Panasonic we are making good progress toward first cell production in 2016, slightly earlier than originally scheduled. Starting operations earlier will reduce ramp-up risks for Model 3 and provide some potential expansion capacity for Model S and Model X."

Am I right in assuming that the 2015 CAFD guidance raise from $127 million to $156 million means a dividend increase is on the cards for 2015?

You neglected to mention that the Gigafactory is ahead of schedule, and that "Model S orders and deliveries alone expected to increase by 50% in 2015."

The Model X being pushed back isn't a big deal in the grand scheme of thing with demand for the Model S this high.

  • Will Investors Flock To SunEdison's Emerging-Market YieldCo? [View article]
Tom, can you outline to a relatively new investor [2 years and going strong] how SunEdison's current shareholders would gain from a new Yieldco? Do they receive some shares when it is spun off from SunEdison?
