  • Intel: The End Of Moore's Law [View article]
Anyone who listened to the last intel earnings call has to decide.......option a) management's new style is under promise and over deliver instead of telling the analyst community what they really think and hitting the numbers Or b) ohhhhhh my, the company is doomed at least near term, the always aggressive excited management team, for the first time in recent memory was worried about the future.....

Disclosure: long intel common...just sold half position on earnings call

  • Freeport-McMoRan And The Risk From Indonesia [View article]
As fcx said on their earnings call, this year is full of local and national elections in Indonesia, and as is obviously displayed in the current situation which ignores an existing contract, any negotiation with the current government could cost FCX concessions, only to have any gains from the government side wiped away with new politicians next year. Not a good time for capitalism and property rights in Indonesia. I have been on FCX calls for years, this was the first time they sounded worried about the politics in Indonesia.

  • 3D Systems - Competition To Heat Up As Key Patents Expire, Earnings Risk On The Downside [View article]
So goes the world of small market cap stocks that live on hype. DDD has a nice story that retail investors can understand and a small enough market cap that its stock can be pushed around fairly easily. Its the ideal candidate that anyone with the resources to get a story or two run in the newspaper or on CNBC can make a fortune off of.....pumping & dumping in accordance to their preset "news" PR campaign.

Disclosure: I am neither long nor short DDD....just trying to keep retired investors from being the only guy without a chair when the music stops.

Yep, those worthless software guys at Sun Micro didn't create much worth owning(sarcasm)....that whole JAVA thing didn't really go anywhere.....and that silly ANDROID operating system developed on JAVA never really amounted much other that over 10 Billion devices world-wide running JAVA and ANDROID apps.
Software,(SOLARIS & JAVA) was arguably one of the only reasons Oracle bought the failing hardware company.
Bottom line, DDD, to justify its valuation would need to scale massively....in the software business, you can do that with the click of a mouse.....in the hardware business, you need massive capital, supply chain, international partnerships, excellent logisitics on a massive scale, and a world-wide sales & distribution network.
That's why I thought it was extremely interesting that HPs CEO said they would be in the 3D printing business by 3rd Quarter in their last Earnings call. Just happens to be timed right after DDDs patents expire.
DDDs only hope may be software, but it might be just something to help them survive if they have a big marketshare in software....other than that, there is little value there.

The CEO of HP said they would be in the 3D printing business by 3qtr....timing of which happens to be just after DDDs patent expires....I'm not saying HPQ is a good buy, but simply, to expand to potential earnings to justify the valuations you need to be able to scale. You can scale a software business with the click of a mouse.....scaling hardware requires huge capital, partnerships, supply chain, logistics, and a distribution network.

Pretty scary that everytime I post a link to the Onvo investor relation page showing their SEC S1 filing as a real estate flipping company the entire story is dropped and a new one appears with lots of positive comments......interest...

  • Organovo: Why Market Leaders Make Good Bets [View article]
Judy swink, I am not affiliated with short sellers, but something far worse, I am affiliated with is a group of retired investors who try to keep from getting screwed who spend there time reading SEC filings of the high flyers we are constantly pitched by the marketers.

All the info I have presented is from the novo web site. The s-1 filing that shows they originally filed to go public as a real estate foreclosure development company is from a HIDDEN page on the NOVO website..... Ir.orgonovo.com/invest...

For some reason Orgonovo only has 2012,2013,2014 links on their investor relations website....go to that page on their website and then up to URL in your browser and type 2010 over the 2012 and they show you their 2010 filing as a vacation property foreclosure redevelopment company ran by a woman named Deborah Lovig......

It's probably all legit...but a bit strange for a biotech company that is going to change the world.

Judy perhaps you are affiliated with JMP securities? The firm, that according to another NOVO SEC filing, that was hired recently to market another 4 million of NOVO shares to retail investors?

Oh, and their CEO cashed out 100,000of his six million shares last Wednesday at $10.83 before the Citroen analyst was on Fast Money saying the company is a scam and that boiler rooms have been hyping the stock.

Hope and prayer are great...these guys say they are working on something wonderful.....good for them.....before you invest in them, at least spend a few minutes reading their annual report from two weeks ago.....learn that they temporarily license almost all of their patents from universities, learn how long the cells live that they produce, learn why only 8 percent of this " world changing" company's stock is held by institutions.......I have no position long or short....just don't like seeing my retired friends get burned on promises and hype.

Look at their investor relations page....try to find their S-1 filing to go public.....they were formed as a hedge fund backed real estate foreclosure flipping company three years ago.....oh, the s-1 filing is on a hidden page on their website.....you have to select filings for 2012, then go up and type 2010 over the 2012 in the URL in your browser to see their filings from 2010.

  • Ex-Coke worker stole laptops with data of up 74,000 staff [View news story]
Ten years ago, this story would have been told around the water cooler and not in front of the entire world......it would have gone something like this " Fred took the laptop home with the HR spreadsheet on it.....he brought it back today...... Should we try out that new coffee joint called Starbucks after work today?"
