Glad to hear your opinion as a former employee-- I like everything I see on paper and they are hanging in there through this current malaise-- I'm accumulating and going long.

  • Can Silver Wheaton Turn It Around? [View article]
As Warren Buffett says, 'the news isn't good, but the prices are'. SLW is a leveraged play on the price of silver and silver isn't going anywhere. Demand and prices will come back some day-- next year, three years from now, who knows? And if SLW is still kicking off halfway decent EPS in the dregs of an industry cycle, how much more so when things get better? If the price you pay determines your rate of return, then at $21, the market is handing you a gift. Buy it now when the news is bad and wait for the day that the rest of the world wakes up and realizes oh, gee, the silver sky ISN'T falling, and this thing pops back into the 40s.

  • Caterpillar And Joy Global: Investments That Need Patience To Pay Off [View article]
Anup- great article, thanks for the info. I agree and think Joy in particular is a buy, great numbers despite the hideous coal market right now. Started accumulating a few shares here and there and will buy on the dips. For coal bulls JOY and CAT along with the coal ETF may be a nice way to play the eventual coal rebound. Cheers.

  • Superior Energy Services Looks To Live Up To Its Name [View article]
Steve, good article. I just discovered this name and trying to learn about it. What caused that huge revenue growth from '11 to '12, was it a big contract(s) or acquisition? Thanks for the insight.

  • HollyFrontier: A Dividend Diamond In The Oil Refiner Rough [View article]
Thomas- great article, thanks for the detail here. Long HFC and I am a believer. I'm in the for long haul.

Wondering if you've ever taken a look at little Adams Resources and Energy (AE). A small player but rock-solid financials and outperformed the industry over the past ten years, I'm long AE and would love to hear your opinion. Cheers.

  • The Emerging Liquefied Natural Gas Global Trade Meets The Greek Shipping Industry [View article]
VD- thanks for your article, very informative. 2 questions:

what is (are) your primary source(s) of information on the LNG industry? any trade journals you recommend?

Your article did not mention StealthGas-another Greek shipper I've been following--any thoughts on its role/future prospects in the LNG shipping dynamic?

  • Time To Consider HollyFrontier? [View article]
Richard- thanks for the article, long HFC and would have to think Graham would love it too. Also long another little refiner, Adams Resources and Energy (AE)--seems like a great little company that has delivered the big returns like the rest of the industry, and still carrying that cheap P/E. Wondered if you had any thoughts on it. Cheers.

  • Cliffs Natural Has Bottomed. Time To Buy [View article]
I've been trying to catch this falling knife for what, 18 months? Its worn me out. Cliffs' balance sheet is a mess and its going to take more than a few positive events to entice me back in. Good luck and see you all at the pub.

  • A Beautiful Day To Buy Commodity Stocks [View article]
Have traded individual coal names for years and at this point, I really think KOL is the way to go. Get those Chinese names in there along with the all big US miners, and guarantee your upside when it finally turns around. Looking at BTU and WLT and those others--when coal prices inevitably turn and the stocks pop, I'd be sick if my individual names underperformed the ETF. Just one man's opinion--Good luck all.

I'd love to know what her opinion of commodities were 3 or 4 years ago when prices were going through the roof. Was she predicting a pullback or was she part of the sky's-the-limit crowd?
