  • Making Buffett's Alpha Your Own [View article]
Ploutos, very interesting study. I'll try it walking forward. One sugestión, why don't you consider a kind of stop loss to ensure that in no calendar year the equity can dive under the starting level of the equity of each end year? You could therefore avoid big down movement (e.g. 2008) and the outperformance would generate much alpha vs. Berkshire. Thanks and you have a new follower looking forward for more of this kind of inputs

  • Apple Cash And Investments Are Disclosed And Supports The Stock [View article]
Excellent Idea, why don´t corporations do what we do on a low level baering the tremendous risk for outsiders to short puts. It would be even the best strategy for all the take over hedge funds. They would never loose. But in this case a share buy back programm selling tons of 500 Puts would even increase margins and financial profitability of our baby. Great idea!! Only thing I don´t know if this is legal to do so under corporate laws.

  • Apple's Ecosystem: Strength Or Liability? [View article]
Good points and agree totally. But the interesting question is, how much margin is AAPL getting out of the eco system to compensate future (surely) margin reductions in the I-Phone sales (not necesarily I-Pads and others). When will be the Time Point were App sales and Itunes margins will significantely contribute in the corporate results? Until then, the biggest threat is the price policy of all telcom providers all over the world. One other point weak in the eco system is the slow implementation of e-commerce and electronic payments (which I think will be natural in future) and would have huge potential especially in aapl ecosystem with its "SAFE" image respectively other online e-commerce. However AAPL has the power to crash competitors if they want to sacrifice a chunk of margin like german car makers if they would reduce there price targets the rest of European Car Makers and half of japanese and and considerable part of US carmakers could close factories quickly.
