You don't understand the "fundamentals" of TKMR. Until you do, stay quiet, research, read and learn.

You're commenting on the wrong stock. FYI, you're looking for Mapp Biopharmaceuticals.

You are incorrect. Look up the FDA's Animal Rule. Hint: Efficacy was proven in NHPs. Also, the DoD has stockpiled drugs in the past that were not FDA approved.

Sir, these are really super basic concepts that any legitimate investor in TKMR should already be aware of before committing capital (either long or short). Please take another look and spend more time on this. Plenty of available material online - Twitter, Investor Village, Tekmira's website.

There is a "Logical" ;) bear case to be made but you haven't made it. Your's isn't based on facts or sound reasoning.

The customers of an Ebola treatment are governments stockpiling infectious disease treatments. The recent outbreak may increase probabilities, amounts and pull forward the timing of these orders. TKM-Ebola use in this outbreak can help demonstrate efficacy and safety, further increasing stockpiling probabilities.

This is all very basic stuff.

  • What Tekmira Investors Are Missing [View article]
So you think the market was more rational when TKMR was trading around $10? I disagree. I think it was underpricing the pipeline, including TKM-Ebola. The recent spike in Ebola headlines contributed to the rally from $9, but I believe those levels were unjustified and many of these new investors (ignore the day-traders) likely see the value in TKMR outside of Ebola.

In the 2nd week of Oct, the company is due to release pre-clinical data on its HBV product. Look at where ARWR is trading. Its valuation ex cash is 2x TKMR. Interim results from TKM-PLK Phase 2 are due around Nov.

Regarding the current outbreak and its effect on markets, the fact that it is 8 months old doesn't mean that its old news. Whats important is the severity and trajectory of the outbreak.

jaybird74 - In addition to my previous comment, I think the $22mn rev estimates people are citing is based off of the averages as shown on Bloomberg. It seems like a few analysts didn't include the Spedra upfront in the their Q3 estimates, so the $22mn is noisy.

jaybird74 - Agree with your comments on the $22mn Q3 consensus figures. IMS/Symphony numbers have indicated for a while what realistic revs would be, so consensus for Q revs if should be fairly close.

Question: Doesn't it make more sense for a big pharma to instead partner at this point? Would mean less financial risk than buyout.. No?

Partnership is absolutely necessary and VVUS management, especially with large shareholders on the board, realize this.

davedone - Thanks for the info and clarifications. I'm a novice, as you can tell.

I took another look at the iFixit and Chipworks teardowns and I see the module you are talking about. But how can you be sure that it is a Murata module?

    Thanks

Murata Wi-Fi modules are in both 5s and c.

iPhone 5c. Look at Step 10

    http://bit.ly/16RDPQD

    iPhone 5s. Step 12

    http://bit.ly/16RDRIc

In the 5, the Murata modules contained PSMI switches. I have not been able to verify that the Murata modules in the 5s/c contain PSMI switches.

In any case, the Reuters article says the RBC analyst downgraded PSMI because there was no Murata component in the new phones. That seems to be incorrect.

So what am I missing? That would seem like a very careless mistake by the RBC analyst. Maybe Reuters is incorrect and the downgrade was for something else?

I sold my position on the way down Friday. I will re-establish if I can verify that the RBC analyst was wrong.

  • Peregrine dives on RBC downgrade [View news story]
I have not been able to find any info on Peregrine content in iPhone 5s or c. As late as August, RBC reiterated its $16 target and outperform on PSMI. The only things that could have changed since then, IMO:

    1. Outlook for RFMD suit turned negative?
    2. iPhone 5s/c content lower than expected

I also haven't seen the RBC report, or any article outlining RBC's reasoning. Would love to see it.
