  • 3 Reasons Intel Is A More Compelling Investment Than Taiwan Semiconductor [View article]
Hi, your 3 reasons to buy Intc got counter-arguements too

    1. R&D And Gross Margins - Intel's gorss margin is higher coz of value-chain - Intel sell own-brand CPU chip while TSMC does not. TSMC does not compete with customer while Intel might. Intel got higher R&D? it is coz Intel is a product company while TSMC is a partner for fabless clients. R&D is the result of corprorate strategy, not causes to buy.

    2. Dividends - Advantage Intel - Intel's dividend yield is higher coz Intel got no growth potential on its PC/CPU business. So Intel got extra cash to pay out and has no urgent need to build new fab while TSMC is growing with the mobile-chip customers

    3. Share Repurchase Program - Advantage Intel? Like said in the above, Intel is a company without growth potential, so Intel use its extra cash to lower its capital base and boost its ROIC/ROE. No good for investors staying outside, only good for existing shareholders to dump their shares to potential buyers. Share repo program is not a long term viable solution for long term investors. If you compare ROIC/ROE, TSMC runs a better and efficient semiconductor company.

yes, valuation is all about future growth. fundamental analysis , 100% agreed, is not model analysis. outlook or judgement is more important than number games

  • Sell ARM: Intel Mobile Progress Is Major Threat To Lofty Valuation [View article]
Look at how ARMH perform since June 2013. Lofty valuation is it? why other investor do not see that way? who push up the price? Not me. I think there are some investors with more wisdoms buying ARMH to make the headline here a past tense.

  • Intel (INTC) now -4.4% AH following its Q2 report, thanks to downbeat CC remarks. The chip giant says channel inventory has grown following the Haswell launch, and (as reflected in Gartner/IDC's Q2 numbers) that Chinese sales have weakened. The chip giant also admits 2H visibility is limited for now. Intel is banking on improving macro conditions and a flurry of Haswell/Bay Trail notebook, tablet, and convertible launches later this year to lift sales. RBC and Bernstein aren't sure if Intel has lowered guidance enough. AMD -0.7% and HPQ -0.6% in sympathy. AMAT -0.5% thanks to the capex guidance cut[View news story]
Investor will not have patience to read the lengthy opinion if the call is substantially wrong direction. PC is negative growth sector/product, where Intel is the major chip-makers.

This is the point no one should over-market the stock than ignore the fundamentals

  • Intel Is Likely To Report A Miss July 17, But Fear Not - It Should Not Matter [View article]
The truth is that Intel is a semi-conductor company depending on PC/NB demand. No growth in PC shipment, no growth in Intel's revenue.

Low or even negative growth for PC/NB segment. That's macro trend. No investor should deny it or try to fight the headwind..

  • This Apple/Taiwan Semiconductor Rumor Smells Fishy [View article]
The commnet from the author is really as good or as bd as the Digitime's claim. They are all media exposure. TSM is not going to disclose client information or comment any rumor. So is the reality of the claim or refute here.

Reader should bear in mind the author is against Intel's competitor if any. No surprise at all.

  • Citi becomes the latest sell-side firm to sing Micron's (MU +4.9%) praises ahead of Wednesday's FQ3 report: the firm has lifted its PT to $19 from $13.50, and sees the Elpida deal adding $0.88 to annual EPS. Sterne Agee, Jefferies, RBC, and Stifel have already offered bullish takes on Micron this month, generally on account of strong DRAM and NAND flash pricing. Sterne and RBC also argued Micron could produce $2/share or more in EPS post-Elpida. Both Micron and NAND rival SanDisk (SNDK +4.3%) are making fresh 52-week highs. [View news story]
"Bull" on MU and Sandisk, this is surely negative for Intel due to lack of DRAM to make processor shipment, the core business of Intel.

  • Quantifying The Impact For Intel On Its Entry Into Mobile [View article]
    For Intel bulls,

tks for the quantitative analysis. Now many realize Intel's entry into mobile space is not enough to lift its valuation multiple. Intel is a PC-related stock who is too big to absorb the shock from declining trend from PC products.

Even they are aggressively to push in load into mobile space, can such move have much impact on its top- or bottom-line? I do not think so.

  • Intel's Time To Shine [View article]
    Intel bulls,

You should take profit and re-balance to other semi names such as QCOM, MU,XLNX,TSM, ARMH for alpha. Intel is slowing in top-line and bottom-line as you just shown.

Intel has performed quite well in the past 6 months, you should sell into strength than hold onto it.

Short Intel and Long QCOM, MU,XLNX,TSM, ARMH for alpha

  • Intel's Haswell: The Must Read Guide [View article]
    @ txbadonetoo

In real world it happened. DRAM fab is not built in one day. So is Rome. Making memory IC is not Intel good at. The process is different and I am sure that you knew it.

Your scenario are sort of time frame. Everybody knows the economy world will follow that sequence. The question is when and how difficult to achieve each steps? Timing is also important for investor decison ans stock picking. For the time being, MU is the priority for investor than Intel. MU has + alpha; Intel is negative alpha for investor. Face the reality that MU, TSM, QCOM, ARMH or other names is better investment picks than Intel, not just merely criticize the comments here, then you will be better off.

I am sure that in the real world DRAM will have very very good years ahead, at least 2~3years. You are dreaming of bankrupt DRAM makers to stand on their feet and spend money to shrink the die further to compete against Samsung again ? But Show me the money (to CAPEX)!! No way.
