  • REIT Valuations Part 1: Healthcare [View article]
i'm probably older than you, but I don't need income in this phase of my life and i look at it as part of a defensive portfolio. Have a nice profit in OHI and probably will stick with it. did some money with mpw in the past got out in time. it was "too temperamental" for me. it is the turtle that get to to celebrate centennial....

The presented results are The argument against these momentum models. The buy and balance approach where every time the market index drops below prescribed level (say 20%) it is rebalanced with Shy which is always kept at least at 25%. This keeps one in the market and participates in the jump up when recovery starts!

  • ONEOK Partners: A Natural Gas-Focused MLP With Remarkable Growth Potential [View article]
Albert, i also noticed long ago the great potential of OKS. But whereas OKE jumped to life STOCKWISE, OKE still trails in performance some of the better known names. But i agree OKe is a fine GP. Since i don't need the income, GP are my game. I do it via a fine CEF, TTP which sells at a nice discount and HAS 76% in GPs. The 3 exceptions are EPD, NGLS and KMR which kicked me to the moon. As for adding GP i'm still debating whether it should be TRGS or OKS. Your input will be APPRECIATED !

Aht, HT, HPT and Soho, the head spins from the names of these goodies. Bret, would you care to put some order/sense into those names? long aht and hpt. the first compliments of dane bowler the second yours. was wondering whether the third should be HT or SOHO?- for me they don't serve as a source of income but as a part of semi-defensive portfolio

here is the ultimate simplicity suggestion: 2/3 vti and 1/3 TLT, rebalanced. This will do the trick/ you are welcomed to test it. i'm not very original here: see the relevant article by Cranky: this is the core of taming the bear. The rest is teaching him to dance.
