The Bakken Trend: Lost Dutchmen Mine of the Oil Patch?
The following companies are participating at Bakken:
WLL, EOG (11% assets), BEXP (16%) CLR (33%) and MRo is entering, I am not sure about Kodiak.
I understand that in a matter of 3-4 weeks, the USGS will release a report including final figures about volume reserves at Bakken reservoir.
      Interesting !,
Let's see and move fast !!

LDK Solar: Material Discrepancies in Analyst Coverage/Media Reporting
The article describes all major issues of concerns about the current LDk status of manufacturing & business development and at the same time provides excellent explanations that destroys the Biased allegations from Barrons, PJ and other uninformed analysts.

Solar Stocks Won't Stay Down for Long
You didn't mention LDK as the leader in High volume manufacturer and price cuts for the next 3 years. They are building a new PolySilicon plant to create a new supply of basic resource for the Solar Industry.

5 Must-Read Stories in Oil and Alternative Energy
You should include LDK Solar as the world leader in Polysilicon.

On the other hand, I don't see the relation between a recession and the increase in polysilicon demand. A recession will bring a decrease in energy demand and consequently a decrease in energy bill, bringing energy prices down.
Thus, under a "recession mode" there will be no driving forces to impulse an increase in the supply/demand of high cost solar panels.
Solar energy will have better penetration opportunities as technology reduces costs, energy policies facilitates the deployment and final customers contribute -voluntarily- to take a green move.

What Kind of Bounce Can We Expect?
You are talking about a rule, the rule of the 50s for the S&P.
Today's markets are not based on rules but on expectations.
I would consider, besides, the mathematical approach of the 50s, other non-mathematical externalities and assessments to evaluate market behaviour.
For example, perspectives of consumers about the cost of living, and trends in how incomes are used.

LDK Solar: Analyzing "Fishy" Analyst Actions
      Good article and on time.
Same thing applies to China Digital Tv (STV).
After reporting very good results 3Q 07 (54% + profits) next day the stock dropped 17%, and followed good rating with excellent potential due to 44% market share and new customers getting its products.
Well, you can see STV today down 36% in 2 weeks.

I think both, LDK and STV are being manipulated and estimates being inflated for no reason.

I am outside US and not familiar with complaining through SEC

Don't Count on Spain for Solar Success
I invite all of you to read this fresh article, at:
      www.renewableenergyacc...

Opportunities for Solar PV energy is worldwide not only on fast growing regions like Spain and Germany

here is a relevant statement from Dr. Flavin, President of WorldWatch Institute:
"Worldwatch Institute President, Christopher Flavin, drives home the impact China may have on the world. "How this story ends up may have as large an impact on the world's future as it does on China's. If China is able to scale up its renewable energy technologies to the levels needed to have an impact domestically, and if it is able to achieve the low prices needed to succeed in the local market (known in manufacturing circles as the "China price"), it may be virtually inevitable that these same technologies will soon be adopted on a massive scale around the globe."

Sunpower Has the Hype, Suntech Has the Growth
A 20% or 30% conversion efficiency for thicker layer, is not possible, that does not work that way.
The current commercial 12-15% PV efficiency is limited because of physico-chemical or Photo conversion mechanism, materials structure and manufacturing design.
20%-30% effic can be reached at the lab, with highly specialized materials that would be no-competitive for world market; at this moment we are far away to have those efficiencies for commercial cells.
SIlcion will be the main material for solar cells in this century, due to availability , costs, environmental and convenience.

CIGS and CdTe are for the specialized market not for the masses.

Also, I checked Google finance and article's numbers are ok

I assume differences depends on sources and dates.
Besides numbers, a qualitative analysis is quite important to get overall sense of the sector and individual performances.
We'll get results on NOv 15th for LDK, then see who is correct.
