I am an experienced businessman and entrepreneur from an early age. My trajectory went from hauling wheeled carts of printer parts thru the streets of Philly and up cargo elevators. To key managerial roles within the financial industry 'complex'. My Start in the Financial world was in 1998. I've always been told, and have been, a 'thought leader' within my circles since the age of 7. From whiffle ball in the alley to seriously impactful business situations. Executive level Corporate Business Development, Sales Strategies via Key Strategic Relationships, Service Teams. Synergies. Particularly well rounded within the financial sector, from the phones straight up into roles including the most challenging industry topics. I am Degreed within the 'Media Tech' Complex, or 'B&C;Communications, Media, Telco' with a Business Minor specifically focused within these exact 'Communications' sectors. And did a stint in Italy traveling with professors from Temple University to Yale. This was focused around Art & Architcture; History & Printmaking, truly cannot leave that fact out. It has shaped my life to this very day, including post study travels across the world. Living abroad young opens your mind and the characters met along the way are never forgotten. Did it right... Family runs a 55 year old TPA. This means the most detailed guidance & administration for your 401k plan document itself. The rules and regulations mandated et al. Pension Administration & Record Keeping Services. Our family firm has thrived/survived as an 80% consolidation within the market has dominated these days. Per Example; Ascensus, Paychecks or ADP. We focus in person, can work nationwide. and seriously at fractional costs compared to anyone else we know of. In fact, we have survived because of this philosophy. Other TPA firms and related professionals send us work! This advanced consulting for smaller Businesses, Owners from doctors to attorneys, landscapers and non profits has certainly influenced my well rounded views of the markets. The cherished SMB plan administration sector. Hundreds if not thousands of business owners and Financial Professionals, Accountants and the IRS, over time. Why? We are a non producing TPA; meaning Advisors seek us out, as their TPA of choice to provide IRS mandates for plan design templates and further guide them with the massive amount of rules and regs, behind the scenes. Meaning, they will have time to seek out more business partners come audit season to advise correctly, ethically and to the letters of law. We can be and often are present at the long sales process to explain the always changing IRS and DOL rules; yet we do not pick investment options. The owner/FA does. No conflicts at all. Other past work includes help in the designing, build and rolling out of Nationally Sold financial products. Creating and managing revenue generating marketing campaigns, with complete ownership of the related accounts. I have worked with and co-managed wholesalers nationwide, working with the best from all firms imagined. From full firm CE conference calls to executive retreats. Representing our well known Chief Economists, Gerontologists, Actuarial Geniuses, even Celebrities of many stripes for speaking slots at meetings, executive boards, management teams. Yes, the conference and key accounts circuit and 'believe me' all related experiences. I am well traveled, currently residing outside Philadelphia with my incredible family and am a proud father. A passionate musical and media fan, and family. I also play Dejembe and percussion 'in a band' called Mama Mac! She is a multi nominated musician including the Grammy Awards. If you read all of this, thank you. Message me. JBg

I am the investment manager for Darkravenwind LLC, a small software development consulting firm. 20% of our pre-tax revenue is my responsibility to invest and grow. I also help moderate the "Value Investing" group on Facebook. My hobbies include fighting the Fed, martial arts, and old video games.
I have been using value investing techniques as first described by Benjamin Graham since approximately 2005. I was wasting my life up to that point. My specialty, over and above corporate valuation, is analyzing people. Human behavior is remarkably consistent and can lead to huge gains when you understand what motivates them.
In my own portfolio, I have a diversified income focus with a preference for long term earnings and dividend growth. When a good opportunity comes along, I'll focus a large percentage of assets into that single holding. I'm also maintaining an income portfolio with a little over 180 high yielding companies inside of it as a bit of an experiment.
I was mostly self taught, but do have a partially completed business degree behind me as well. In 2008, I quadrupled my money in the crash, and saw numerous opportunities that I jumped on throughout the next few years. By 2012 my total portfolio was over 50,000% higher than when I had first started.
I was previously an employee at Countrywide Financial Corp., and was present during the mortgage meltdown. I saw firsthand how the company was falling apart from the inside while management continued to believe the organization could be rescued. Because of that experience, I have made bond analysis and studying the effects of inflation a specialty of mine.
Market direction is irrelevant. I look for value. Profitable companies that are low or even fairly priced, so long as the results are dependable. Intrinsic value is subjective, but earnings power matters. I am absolutely fearless of the future and do not make political views a part of my investment process.
I additionally make frequent updates to a blog maintainted at WhoTrades called "Brand Power", you can read and subscribe to it at bandpower.whotrades.com.
We'll be really happy if we can match the S&P 500 annualized return, but we suspect we may do slightly better over a number of years. If not, we've decided to be happy anyway.

Roger Conrad needs no introduction to individual and professional investors, many of whom have profited from his decades of experience uncovering the best dividend-paying stocks for accumulating sustainable wealth.
Roger Conrad founded and ran the Utility Forecaster and Canadian Edge newsletters before leaving to form his own publishing company, Capitalist Times (www.CapitalistTimes.com). During his almost 30-year tenure at Utility Forecaster, Hulbert Financial Digest routinely ranked the publication as one of the best investment newsletters.
His new publication, Conrad’s Utility Investor (www.ConradsUtilityInvestor.com), continues his in-depth coverage and analysis of more than 200 essential-services stocks, primarily utilities and telecoms. Roger Conrad is also an expert on master limited partnerships (MLP) and the Canadian energy sector, which he covers for Energy & Income Advisor (www.EnergyAndIncomeAdvisor.com).
He’s also an independent trustee of Miller/Howard High Income Equity Fund and the author of Power Hungry: Strategic Investing in Telecommunications, Utilities and Other Essential Services. Although he spends a good deal of time in front of a Bloomberg terminal or reading 10-K and 10-Q reports, he’s also an avid outdoorsman and baseball fan.
The masthead may have changed, but readers can count on Roger to deliver the same high-quality analysis and rational assessment of the best dividend-paying utilities, MLPs and dividend-paying Canadian energy names.
