They haven't announced the official date of the reverse split yet. The surprising thing is SPGZ is trading close to the .65 payout anyway. I'd think we'd hear something about it soon.

  • General Finance Corp: A Truly Undiscovered Gem With Significant Upside [View article]
Thanks for the very well written article and insight from management. GFN doesn't seem to get much attention as it's somewhat boring and predictable, which is why I like it even more. As a shareholder, I've been very pleased with GFN's constant and steady progress in the past few years. I also agree that it is significantly undervalued without the Lone Star acquisition, and once the benefits of the acquisition become apparent through results the market will surely take notice.

  • Why Shares of GFN Corp. Could Double [View article]
    Joshua,

I don't know if you're still following GFN, but if you are, I'd be interested to hear your opinions on the recent acquisition, I haven't run numbers regarding the additional EBITDA but that coupled with strong growth in GFN's existing business units make this still relatively cheap despite the large run-up. Pac-van especially is delivering impressive numbers.

  • Mobile Mini: Not Overbought; Gearing Up For A Bidding War [View article]
GFN recently acquired another portable storage business for 95M at an EBITDA multiple of 5.8, with tuck-in acquisitions of that sort available to GFN, I highly doubt they are interested in any businesses trading at a 12.44 EBITDA multiple. Also, Pac-Van is only a portion of GFN's business (their North American operations), their largest division is a 51% ownership in Royal Wolf, their Australian operations.

Are you saying Mobile Mini is an acquisition target FOR General Finance Corp?
Although General Finance has been quite successful in growing their operations through acqusitions, they only have a 200M market cap, much too small to acuire a company 10 times as big (MINI's market cap is 2B). Now maybe the other way around makes sense, as GFN trades at a much lower EBITDA multiple than MINI.

Yes you are wrong, in the press releases it says that the shares will trade along with the right to receive AMRK shares, not ex-dividend (without right to AMRK shares).

While I don't know in aggregate what he paid, since the 13D was filed on 3/6 and he has 10 days to file it after crossing the 5% ownership threshold, I know he was at least adding to his position after the Esposito bid with prices roughly around where they are now or higher.

Mario Gabelli filed a 13D for SWS Group yesterday, good to know a solid activist investor is involved alongside shareholders.

OTC Adventures wrote a lengthy and well-researched piece about the value of AMRK as a standalone company. If you're interested in this situation, I encourage you to read it.

They filed an 8-k this afternoon stating they're postponing the spin-off until early March, so probably nothing to worry about as far as dates are concerned. The more relevant part of the 8-k was their agreement with Afinsa & Auctencia to buy back their shares of SPGZ (10% owners) which will decrease A-Mark's shares outstanding by the same percentage.

FY12 EBITDA for RWH of 37.7M and what looks to be about 12M of EBITDA for PacVan for FY12 looks good to me.

It's been a while, but it looks like the intrinsic value gap is beginning to close.

Yes, I just wanted to see your current thoughts. I agree that value can be it's own catalyst, although If I could pick I'd rather have some other catalyst. But I do feel more comfortable with heavy insider ownership, especially with individuals kowledgeable about this business as with GFN. I've watched this one for a while and decided to enter a position as the stock sank while business results improved. Also, kudos for the article, very well laid out thesis.
