  • Apple sees downgrade, defenders following FQ3 report; shares -5.1% [View news story]
"What competition" you ask? Do not be confused... the day Apple produces watch sales in the tens of millions, the knock-off artists will be dumping their wares on the market in attempt to snag a few careless buyers. Just like the iPod, the iPhone and the iPad, the competition will be out there once the product matures. In the meantime, Apple has outsold every other smartwatch.

  • When Will The Amazon Bears Be Right? [View article]
Another "firm" reading on Prime memberships. If it is really 40 Million, why is Amazon hiding the number?

  • Apple Bond Issuance Shows Potential Market Problem [View article]
No one blinked an eye when AMZN paid dearly for their $6 Billion late last year.

  • Apple Has Cursed The Market - Cramer's Mad Money (4/30/15) [View article]
Cramer's message is right on. The market is no longer driven by the P/E motive. Investor emotion is somehow supporting money-losing startups like AMZN (ok, its 18 years old, but is still treated as if it will make real profits "some day"), and reaming companies that have the affront to actually make money "because some day it must stop". Is this an investor death wish? Perhaps/

  • Fiat Chrysler Automobiles peers through the looking glass [View news story]
GM and Ford and Chrysler came to the realization that you can't keep on making five versions of the same car to feed multiple divisions. Perhaps two, but not five. Each "spin" of the vehicle requires wasted $$$ spent on advertising, R&D and factory infrastructure, all wasted. Better to just have a few products and do them well and in efficient scale (APPL).

  • Apple: The Good Times Roll On [View article]
West End is in the deepend... "Also worth noting, 20% of the iPhone install based upgraded to an iPhone 6/6 Plus after two full quarters since the model launch, a rather low figure in my view and could imply that the stickiness of the ecosystem remains questionable."

Now that is taking a positive and driving it to a negative. Get a grip - it is clear that iDevices have a proven track record of being useful for well beyond 2 years. Folks are not driven to buy the next rev device just to get new software - the iDevices get regular updates (unlike the Android experience). I have a 16 month-old 5S and am in no hurry to get a 6. The 5S works with the watch, and in combination with that, it works with Apple Pay. I'll just wait till the 6S comes out...

  • What Amazon Will Do With New Capital Ammunition [View article]
"New Capital Ammunition"... well, actually yes, since AMZN issue oodles of new stock certificates to their employees. This keeps them happy and motivated. It also dilutes the value of each share held by investors. The title of the story is awfully erroneous, as AMZN has not announced any new equities sale to the public in which to add to their balance sheet; Likely they will just do another $6Billion loan this year at 5% interest to keep the sink filled while $$$ drain out into the media and electronics budget.

  • It's Still Dumb To Bet Against Amazon And CEO Jeff Bezos [View article]
Has AMZN written off the "remaining" ~78 Million loss from the Firephone debacle? When the wrote off the $170 Million in Q3, it was expected they would finish it off in Q4, but that was not apparent.

  • Apple Should Invest In Original Filmed Content [View article]
Suggesting that Apple should invest in media creation is weird. Yes, I know that it is presently "fashionable"to waste millions in an attempt to become artistically and critically relevant, but achieving success in movie/tv/music is rarely facilitated by throwing $$$$ at it instead of raw artistic talent. Jobs sold his stake in Pixar - he did not fold it into Apple. There is no evidence that Jobs/Apple was ever significantly involved in the artistic component of Pixar. He knew better.

  • Headwinds For New Tesla Financing: Estimates Declining And P/E Multiples At Historic Peak [View article]
"If any investor thinks that EPS estimates for this company -- or any company -- will be revised upwards, it would be time to be long the stock. And vice versa."

That seems to be the intuitive approach. AMZN blows that out of the water. For the last few years their forward earnings have continually been chipped away as the year progresses; I suspect 2015 will be no different. In the end they will have another loss, as they did in 2014 despite the puny "blow out number" in Q4. Still, after 18 years, investors are determined to find the money in the stall full of manure.

  • Amazon: It's Time To Start Making Some Money [View article]
Growth, not actual net profits, was the problem. And yes, they were so wildly profitable (and still are) that many felt they had no possibility of doing better in the future. Conversely, ANZN has been so wildly Unprofitable, that many think they have no where to go but up.

  • Amazon: It's Time To Start Making Some Money [View article]
Apple's challenge 2 years ago was in growth of profits, as they were ready wildly profitable. Concerns were raised ( and continue to be) that the profit would implode. It has not, of course. AMZN has barely broke even over 18 years, an there is little hope they could ever reach the profits Apple produces - only a faith-based view works. AMZN profit Q4 was pitiful, and the estimates started dropping after the Q4 announcement.

  • New Apple TV? Ask Why, Not When [View article]
hey, Sieri: an intelligent voice control concierge for TV would be a huge improvement. "What channel has a program about Alaska right now". Is the Italian Grand Prix being shown this Sunday?" "Any movies to rent with Annette Bening?".

The current waterfall of chiclet graphic representations of movies in the user interface with "See all 328" link is not intuitive. And whatever form of "typing in" is available is not appropriate for the living room seating arrangements.

Siri for Apple TV can be filtered so it is responsive to clues about media questions, and won't need to process the other 95% of possible interpretations of the user's desire.

  • Amazon soars to $359 as Street bets on improving profits [View news story]
Similar story heard from EMC employees in the late 1990's. At over $100/share: "that's my $50,00" motorcycle, because they sold stock at $20 to buy it. When it went to $4 after the crash, they were left holding big IRS bills for option profits that were no longer there...
