  • Why I Believe Amazon Chose Debt Financing [View article]
Apple recently did $17 Bill US and another for $8 Bill in debt in Euros, and have been getting rates around 2%, vs the 4% that Amazon's shareholders will be paying. Moody's was not impressed, as the offering prompted Moody’s Investors Service to cut its outlook on Amazon to “negative” from “stable”.

  • Why Does Tesla Not Appear In The Detroit Auto Show Press Conference Schedule? [View article]
Anton: My quibble here is that you have made some firm prognostications regarding the future. Again, in your comment here, you question "But why not announce December quarter sales if those numbers are better than expected?" You are suggesting that the absence of Tesla at a venue which bans its vehicles means they will not announce "December Sales" anywhere. And, BTW, December is hardly over with - last I looked it was the 11th

  • Why Does Tesla Not Appear In The Detroit Auto Show Press Conference Schedule? [View article]
If I were Tesla management, any Michigan venue that does not allow their car to be shown would be boycotted entirely.

  • Update: Insider Buys Don't Change Our Tune On Pandora [View article]
McAndrews takes a 1/2 step back in at a 50% discount to his August sell. We can be assured that move was not motivated by "insider knowledge" of an active acquisition dialogue. He's not that stupid, and his purchase pretty much guarantees there is no silver knight in the wings ready to grab P. I do congratulate McAndrews for putting his money where his heart is. I do that a bit too often, also.

  • Amazon: Its Business Model Explained [View article]
"Many companies in this day and age operate on a quarter-to-quarter basis. But Amazon doesn't. "

Congratulations to Jeff that he has the following of a large investor community that will let him continue with his 1997 "mandate". Meanwhile, every other public company is being held accountable for profits month-to-month, with hellatious outcomes if they fail to report consistent real profit growth.

Apple PE (16.23) is being hounded by folks who insist that the profits can't last through next year. AMZN PE (-616.96) is being propped up by folks who insist the profits will come.... in another 17 years, perhaps?

1997... that was 17 years ago!!!!!

  • IBM: Perhaps A Time To Buy [View article]
"So far, the newest version of iOS has started off slowly in terms of adoption".

According to Fisku's tracking tools, iOS 8 is at about 46% adoption across nearly a billion devices. That does fall short of the ~62% rate at 35 days into the release for the two previous iOS revs.

But success is difficult for Apple, as they are held to unearthly standards. Where is Google's latest "KitKat" release adoption after nearly a year of availability? It recently "spiked" to 21%. Where is the outcry about that????

More than 1/2 of all Android users (those hitting the GooglePlay site) are still back at Jelly-bean.

  • Stop The Insanity: Apple Doesn't Have An 'iPad Problem' [View article]
Ah, a sane Apple post on seekingAlpha. Just might stay signed in for a while. I bailed out of seekingAlpha months ago after a barrage of Apple-Hate posts being promoted by the seekingAlpha editors. Perhaps the editorial board are not short sellers after all.

  • Apple's China Mobile Problem [View article]
Surprise, Surprise. The deal is done, and 24 hours later Seeking Alpha has no story - can I assume the editors have not yet found a way to spin the Apple-China Mobile deal negatively? This will be my last post, and last look at the site, as I am deleting my bookmark.

Gap? You mean the gap down over the past week due to the FUD spread that the China Mobile deal was not going to happen? The gap just CLOSED! and those who bought last week are the winners.

  • Analysts argue Apple/China Mobile deal still a matter of time [View news story]
I'd love to see the press release where either Apple or CHL ever stated a deal date. It has, as usual, been another case of the Anal-ists declaring their desire and then pounding Apple when Apple does not comply with their wishes.

  • Apple's China Mobile Problem [View article]
You state emphatically in virtual ink that "Apple announces that it's "still in talks" with China's largest carrier for a deal to sell subsidized iPhones"

Unless you have seen a press release from Apple, such a statement can only be read as a gross overstatement, designed only to drop APPL enough for you and yours to cover their shorts.

  • Apple still in talks with China Mobile over iPhone deal [View news story]
Journalists an analysts all want their questions answered, competative capitalistic marketing and sales plans be dammed. When it comes to Apple - in any pre-anouncement environment - they will not like the answer the get from Apple or from its partners. CHL has on several occasions leaked that they will be selling the iPhone. Everyone should suspect that each of the attendant "Pull down" of the offending web pages was driven by Apple's insistence of secrecy.
The concern that CHL's statements of "still negotiating" have a deeper meaning are nonsense. Now, if Apple had announced a deal pending, or had "accidentally" added supportive graphics and words to an Apple web site, then there would be reason for concern.

  • Imminent China Mobile Deal Could Add $45 Billion To Apple's Value [View article]
ballgeko: I had presumed that the current ~1billion shares were as big a count as practical. I believe it is close to the amount permitted in Apple's filings - but that can easily be changed. Now, I find out that JPMC has ~5 billion share out there, and BAC has 10 billion, both with considerably smaller market capital value.
    Go APPL split!
