    It has been all but confirmed officially that 10.5 will not have write access to ZFS pools. I can see this coming as what 10.6 is based off of, but leapord will still be based on HFS+. It is likely that Apple will make ZFS the default file system for 10.6, but not even Sun has been able to boot Solaris off of a ZFS pool. I doubt OS X will do it until Sun does it first.

    All of the above described possibliities (and more) are possible. The only problem is that leopard will not be able to do this in a ZFS environment. By the way, Time Machine uses an indexing system in the same way that spotlight indexes files. I would not be surprised if they employ non-destructive edits to control versioning.
