It's not about what it's worth... only what people think it's worth. --Eddie in It is better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak and remove all doubt. --Abraham Lincoln Throughout all my years of investing I’ve found that the big money was never made in the buying or the selling. The big money was made in the waiting. --Jesse Livermore Far more money has been lost by investors preparing for corrections, or trying to anticipate corrections, than has been lost in corrections themselves. --Peter Lynch

My extensive experience working overseas has provided a solid foundation for my investment philosophy.
I have found that travel is a far better teacher than a conventional education. The experiences and knowledge one gains on the ground around the world cannot be taught in any classroom.
Investment analyst and private investor. Began as trader and short-seller but changed my style few years ago and so I'm lifetime optimist now (as well as one of my idols André Kostolany) - I’m long only. I only write about stocks that I also own. Everything I write is only my opinion and of course, I could be wrong. Always do your DD. I’m stock picker looking for off-the-radar small or nano-cap mostly with a potential to growth hundreds of percent. I prefer stocks from biotech or alternative energy sector, but this is not a dogma. All my investments are long term, risky and I know that I could lose whole or big part of my initial investment....you should also count with it

61 year old Emeritus Civil Engineer (B.Sc and Ph.D.) with 21 years of practical experience. For the last 20 years (the first 5 years in tandem with engineering) my income is mainly due to stock and future trading based on standard technical analysis, the only reliable tool for achieving at least 60-70% successful trades.
The "cfe" identity name contains the 3 fundamental technical analysis tools, i.e. Candlesticks, Fibonacci Retracements and Elliot Waves.
I have been exposed to stocks since young as my father made fortunes from savvy and shrewd stock investing which have brought us much wealth and prosperity after starting off in extreme poverty.
I am a keen lifelong student of economic and stock market history, which I believe gives tremendous insights and understanding to the current market environment. I use economic and market fundamentals to guide my trading decisions, and then employ time tested technicals and indicators to more effectively time entry and exit points.
I have called and profited heavily from the 2014-2015 collapse in oil prices, the August 2015 correction and the big fall in small cap biotechs, and from emerging market companies who export to the US. I employ both long and short strategies to provide a practical and commonsense approach to profit from the market.
Besides stock investing, I have a stable job, and am a part-time entrepreneur.

I am an individual and occasional investor with a passion for biotechnology and stocks. I am working as an engineer with ties to the healthcare sector.
I build investment theses based on thorough personal research and end up picking only stocks that I think hold a very high and long-term potential. I specialize in micro-cap and/or European biotechs, tracking undervalued opportunities and basing my investment choices on the deep analysis of a company's fundamentals and its long-term perspective (at least several years).

I work at the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). I am a patent attorney and my specialties include bio-medical devices, surgery, drug delivery, microbiology and nanotechnology. Prior to the USPTO, I worked in the IT and biotechnology industries.
My training as a patent attorney gives me the skills to analyze investment opportunities in new technologies and my job with the USPTO gives me access to the search tools and instruments of a patent examiner which I use to research stocks in my spare time and debunk questionable articles regarding new technologies posted by others.
I've been investing ever since I turned 18 (since 1998). My primary goal here on Seeking Alpha is to research investment opportunities, make money, have lively debates, and have fun.

I am the annoying guy you meet at a cocktail party who knows a great deal about things, which at their core, are entirely uninteresting. My hobbies are tube amplifiers, non-linear financial modeling and squash.
I am mostly a value investor in individual stocks. Mostly in great North American companies. I reinvest dividends. I try to hold forever. Sometimes I invest in small to mid cap companies with solid cash flow, balance sheets, and compelling price ratios.
I will occasionally chase quality growth. Higher PEs, but with a justified growth rate. I however disdain companies that don't make a profit.
That said, yes, I use even smaller money to engage in deep risk. I'll play the greater fool theory. I'll ride speculative hype and hope to have a faster finger. Here I do my best to time the irrationality of the herd and the pump and dump collusion of smart money interests.
I dollar cost average into index funds. When I have no alternative, such as with 401k plans. But when possible, I convert to a self managed IRAs. I prefer to do it myself, avoiding fees and the inefficiencies of indices.
I keep an eye on important macroeconomic metrics. The S&P500 PE. The tmc:gnp ratio. Distributions of income & wealth. Employment. Any systemic risk.

I work in hi-tech. I am essentially a software engineer. I work in silicon valley & often enough on wall street. I am a former US Army officer, where ironically I was introduced to more formal investing.
I'm always seeking alpha. I'm open to collaborating in identifying good investing opportunities. I'm always learning and welcome criticism.
I was trained in finance, but work in strategy. I invest very infrequently, and balance my portfolio once a year. I buy and hold hold indices and volatility ETFs. I trade a little bit on the side, but that's pure gambling, for fun.

I manage the capital of only a handful of families and I see it as my number one job to protect their financial security. They don’t pay me to sell them investment products, beat an index, abandon true investing for mindless diversification or follow the Wall Street lemmings down the primrose path. I manage their money exactly as I manage my own so I don’t take any risk at all unless I strongly believe it is worth taking.
