Apache (APA -2.1%) should sell its assets in Egypt, which have dragged the company’s valuation by 20%-30% and is likely to get worse given the country’s "dysfunctional government, deteriorating economy, polarized society and exploding population," Oppenheimer says, adding APA should use the proceeds to buy back 15% of its shares and reduce debt. if selling the assets and buying back stock and debt really works, that means that the assets are worth more than the stock and bonds being purchased.
Market recap: It was quite a day for the tea-leaf readers. Stocks spiked early on release of Bernanke’s prepared testimony, then began to fade as he seemed to break with the dovish tone during his Q&A, and then turned red as the Fed meeting minutes indicated a bit of a dilemma over when to taper. Gold futures, up more than 1% early, finished negative. The dollar rallied; Treasurys fell, lifting 10-year yields to 2%. [View news story]
It's how the market is,always has been.
the market goes up,down, sideways. the best way to make money is buy low, sell high.
I was a net buyer today, sold some in the a.m.bought in the p.m.
It could go down more, but it might go up. I stay invested at all times and continuously re-balance.

If the "tapering" or ending of QE causes a major market decline, the Fed will be scared into implementing QE4. They've put themselves into a cycle they won't be able to get out of for many moons.

I think that's why it's called "taper".
It's interesting to see what happens everytime there is a whisper about ending QE. Imagine what will happen when it actually ends.
the founding family owns about 83% of the stock, and dominates the board.
under "related party transactions" it is stated that the company buys cars, feed, and other things from businesses which are controlled by the family.
Mexico has had a history in recent years of mass exterminations of chickens because of infectious disease. particularly in the state of Jalisco where they have operations.
this is a relatively young, one product company,in a volatile commodity industry, controlled by one family who does business with itself to the potential detriment of the outside stockholders.
scar- thanks for that. When I listen to Santelli,I usually think he's speaking some other language. He's frequently completely incomprehensible. I thought it was probably some high-tech version bond-speak. His ranting and raving, unfortunately, are entirely comprehensible
I rarely watch CNBC,but if I do I mute the tv when Santelli comes on. What value he brings to the show is unknown. Except a lot of people hate him so maybe it helps their ratings. After all,CNBC exists to sell advertising.

Margin debt is close to its 2007 high, and today's WSJ reports a major increase in the number of CEF new issues.
I believe we're closer to a top than to a bottom just now,but I don't see the excesses in the credit market that we had in 2007 with no doc loans, etc. So I don't expect a correction to be a major catastrophe as 2008/09.

I have absolutely zero interest in hearing Santelli, Kiernan,or any of the other so-called experts spouting their political babble.
