Why I am Selling Thornburg Mortgage

I purchased my shares, as I often do, at the time of insider buying, and at their prices; then watched carefully for them to sell, which they never did.

I emailed the company when they began to get all the unprecedented margin calls and told them that my family was praying for them to get funding to avoid bkcy. I am not sure why they were targeted to take a fall, when there are others in worse shape, but someday it may all come out.

Until then, I am with them all the way, and adding. We are retired and need our dividends and money too, but the insiders are way worse off than we are. I'm nieve enough to believe there are still good people in the world, and justice will prevail.

No need to blame our president or anyone else, does no good anyhow. I will add when the chart turns up, and the sellers are done.

Allow my thoughts on FBR...they are a horse of a different color. How can a company be allowed to give upgrades/downgrades to other companies when they can't properly manage their own. They are the ones that should be ashamed.

I retired in year 2000 and took over hubby and I's ports for investing. I've made my share of mistakes also, like someone said IMH and recently TMA among them. But I have slowly migrated to closed end

funds, since they are a little basket of stocks in a sector they are less risky for going bk at least. I now have 40 of them such as Pimco, Cowen & Steers, Nuveen, Nicholas applegate, etc. You can research them at this site. (above)

I also have limited my investment in any one stock to $5k or $6k because if it goes under I'm not wiped out. The one exception to that rule is Amerigas (APU) which I know is owned 44% by our local UGI gas company. It pays about 7.5% dividend and I've had it about 10 years.

Wells Fargo, with a bid valued at $11.4B, expects the purchase to be completed by the end of the year, and denies it will have to absorb assets shakier than originally thought. As the financial crisis continues to worsen, the U.S. government is considering two dramatic steps to turn around, or at least slow, the damage: guaranteeing billions of dollars in bank debt and temporarily insuring all U.S. bank deposits. The moves, which would mark the government's most extensive intervention to date, are in discussion stages only. Credit stays frozen. As frozen credit markets refuse to thaw, the cost of default protection on corporate bonds reaches new global records amid investor concerns the credit crisis will trigger corporate failures as companies struggle to finance their businesses. Interbank lending remains limited, and borrowing from the Fed's expanded discount window continued its trend of setting new highs every week, as the total daily average rose to $420.2B vs. $367.8B last week.
