  • Why Intel Shares Will Continue To Underperform The Market [View article]
I've got a note edge, a Samsung 11 inch tablet, a 17 inch laptop, and a desktop. My tablet barely gets used, except maybe as a remote for my TV, my phone, which is basically a small tablet with a phone, is used when mobile. My laptop is great when working on stuff, surfing the web, taxes, reading SA, etc while sitting on the couch. All my systems are linked together with windows 8. I've got my phone set to back up my phone pictures to my Microsoft cloud drive. My windows 8 laptop with a SSD turns on faster than my android tablet, lasts about 75% of the time, can do much more as far as functionality, and is reparable. PCS arnt dead, they are lasting longer, which means sales drop. A new equalibriam will be found and revenue and profits will find new levels.

because high power change in magnetic Flux over change in time is not good to have near sensative electronics, or near people with pace makers, or loose metal etc. Yes I have a BSEE.

  • Nevada gaming revenue strong in May despite baccarat slide [View news story]
The drop in profits is from high rollers being turned away in China as part of the Crack down. The casinos have a pretty consistent occupancy rate over the past 2 years. I really doubt people are winning more since we are talking about gambling.

  • Apple And Intel: A Marriage Made In P-Code? [View article]
"Seriously, think about it from Intel's perspective. What is their interest? Assuming they want Apple as a foundry customer (which I'm not sure they do) they are prepared to sacrifice their 65% gm's for 35% gm's and enter a business that, at Apple scale, will do serious damage to their heretofore pristine datacenter-centric business model."

I think you'd have to ask yourself, does Intel have room to in their fabrication process to stick wafers for Apple?
    A8 is 88mm^2.
300mm wafers have 70650mm^2 surface area. Assume 90% actual usable area, that leave 63,585mm^2.
That creates room for ~ 722 processors. Since no one knows what Intels yield rate is, I'm going to guess 90%.
That is 650 die per wafer.
With about 170 million iPhones sold in 2014, that would be 261k wafers per year, or about 5,000 wafers per week.
So ask yourself, do you think Intel has the fab space for that many wafers, or even 50% of that since Apple likes to diversify their suppliers.

  • Intel: The Magic Of FPGAs [View article]
FPGA's are programmed to do things in parallel. So think about it like this. When i add a+b=c in parallel, the computer would see a and b simultaneously and c would be calculated a new nanoseconds later. In serial, the computer would look at a, a few nano seconds later look at b, then a few nano seconds later calculate c.

Getting the distinction correct is important. When you progam a FPGA, you are creating a new piece of hardware. When you program in C++, C#, Python, etc you are creating software that runs on hardware.

Last month I used 60 gigs of data while on my laptop, my phone data plan allows for 8 gigs. I would love to cut my 180$ cable bill but using 4g for that is unrealistic, for now.

  • Microsoft launches $70 Lumia 430 [View news story]
Targeting a cheap phone for emerging markets may be a good idea. Drive up the user base, which increases demand for apps, which then leads to more app development, which leads to better support for the OS. More apps could translate to better sales.

  • Intel Has Given Dividend And Income Investors A Gift: Qualcomm [View article]
"I think its disingenuous at best to consider losing revenue streams great news for any type of investor."

QCOM isn't really loosing a revenue stream. Apple is using Intel modems in new lower priced iPhone models in emerging markets. So this new device never had QCOM modems. New regular iPhones will still have QCOM inside of them. Regardless, a 20% CAGR is amazing. I am putting QCOM on my list of stocks to research.
