If you ask a taxman you get a tax answer. Ask a business man if losses are a good thing.

I don't think we should tax stock gains and losses at all. The gov't gets several bites of the apple now. They tax corporation, they tax the dividends. So I'm getting taxed three times on my investment. We should be trying to encourage investment. Oh, I forgot the 3.8% OBAMACARE tax starting this year! With all of this we are still overspending what we receive in taxes.

Jack up the price of electricity and see how viable the electric car is! What do you do with the batteries? Firemen responding to electric car accidents are adviced to wear rubber suits to avoid shock. Batteries blow up in crashes. Boeing 787 knows about battery problems.

Look what Telsa is producing. Sports cars then luxury cars and then and only cars for the average Joe. We don't have a infrastructure to support electric cars. If we get too many cars, the grids may not be able to juice up the cars without a black out. Walgreens is looking at filling stations/electric at their stores. But the recharge is more than a few minutes. If you read the entire article of Consumer Reports; the 99 rating is a joke for anyone who wants to go out for more than 200 miles. A 220 plug will effect your electric bill

Sonic is subject to many variables. Economic downturns prevent people from eating out more. Weight watchers and healthy eating. Price of gasoline. Heavy competition in a low margin industry. Sonic is not a good investment. Sold it several years ago and haven't looked back.

Want fast food, look at McDonald's.

No one cares more about your money than you do! Self investing is the way to go, if you have the time, energy and apptitude for it. Not everyone can be a car mechanic or a plumber or investor. My view is buy a large Vanguard Fund if you don't feel confident in investing. Even if you do, their low fees work. I have no position in Vanguard

We don't need the gov't to set prices and/or wages. It doesn't work. The market place will do that. The gov't role should be to encourage growth and GDP. It should be there to prevent unfair practices e.g. Sherman Anti-Trust Laws. The problem with gov't setting the minimum is the underground will work for less. Should you pay a baby sitter or a boy mowing your yard the minimum wage? Explain to me how the person in Washington DC can set the minimum wage for the 145 million workers in America?

  • Retirement In A World Without Social Security: Follow Up [View article]
SS was started with the idea of providing for the Senior that lived passed normal. Average life span ended at 63 so SS was for the male head of household starting at age 65. Everything else was expansion of the original system. In addition to all the expansion, we now have life expectancy at 78! That's 13 years more than was originally expect. Retirement is not a chronological issue but rather a financial one. If you cannot AFFORD to retire at 65, keep on working. If you are rich, you can retire at any age you want to with or without Uncle Sugar's help.

If it wasn't for Reagan SS would be broke today. His modifications have kept it solvent.
