That federal agency is headed by a part time director currently, has a board of directors on which Sec of Labor, Commerce and Treasury sit on. They work for Obama of course. None have any real experience in the private sector. The agency is self funded by premiums from the pension funds and members. Funding is also done by investments. So far investments have done well. They even saved some money by taking advantage of the low interest rates. Almost forgot, in 2013 Congress increased the premiums - starting post midterm elections 2015. This is just another surprise provided by stupid people in gov't. Our POTUS needs to get off the golf course, take off the clown suit and do his job for the next two years.

The way the Arabs do business has been around for many ages. If it wasn't for oil, they would still be nomads in the desert!

Was this just before or after he got involved with MM? Just before he sent advisors to RVN?

    berbno1,

You fell into the deficit vs debt trap. The deficit is how much we overspend in a given fiscal year. So we are still over spending but just not as much. The debt is the sum of all the years of deficit spending. The debt on the other hand continues to grow nearing $18TRILLION. The biggest reason for deficit reduction (spending less) is because of low interest rates on borrowed money.
The politicians want you to be fooled because it sounds so much better to say deficit reduction when they really mean I'm not overspending as much this year as last year.

You don't need term limits if you have smart voters! They can vote incumbents out if they aren't doing the will of the people.

    chud,

You want part time citizens then eliminate national elections. Make all elections local, let the electoral college select the President and Vice. Let the state legislators decide who to send to Congress. Get the national parties out of it as much as possible.

In Oct of 2008, I decided my portfolio needed a railroad. I figured I was underweight the transports. So the only RR I knew of was the B&O from monopoly fame. I did some reseach and the B&O was eventually CSX. So I bought some, bought some more and then in 2011, the stock split three for one and I was off to the races. It has been a great stock and especially since the XL pipeline decision is still pending. I was worried about EPA's attack on coal, but the recent elections, that may change.
I first look for where my money will get the best return. So far it has been the stock market. I then look at sectors and try to mirror the S&P as far as percentages are concerned. Then I try to populate sectors with favored stocks. Sometimes I win, sometimes I lose, but on average I have done very well. I don't pat myself on the back too hard because since March 2009 a monkey could have done well just throwing darts at a board full of stock picks.

I have thought for a long time, we are the world's police. We need to spread democracy. I'm changing my mind.
We send troops to one of the "Stans", pick one. We need to make friends with the locals and need them to help build infrastructure to support the troops. Our Congress says we need competition with our dollars. We make friends with the War Lords or Landlords or whatever you wish to call them. They tell us who the bad guys are - local intell if you will.

A local baker who wants to do business with the Americans, offers a bid and competes with the WarLords. Warlord tells gov't, baker is bad guy. He is picked up and tortured. He will be released for a ransom. His family gets the money and baker is released. Two months later baker is arrested again. Same thing happens. Now eventually, the Americans get this baker and send him off to Quantonimo for detention. Eventually baker is returned and Warlords have all American business. Baker hates Warlords and Americans and joins terrorist groups.

This happens over and over again. We waste $Billions and the locals hate us. We leave and corruption runs rampant and religious ideology takes over. We try to go back and now everyone hates us. We don't belong in the Middle East! The only thing we really want from them is oil! We can build the XL pipeline and cut off that need.

I would never do business with Bank of America. Their history is terrible and the way they treat customers is even worse. There is a reason they are continually paying $Millions in fines.

    Mike,
I got the same letter. You are right on target with your assessment. Instead of LMT paying the fees, the individual investor is paying the fees. Of course, as a owner of LMT you were in a way paying the fees.
