I think they plan on paying it all back, just they started paying it back early. Ofcourse, only GM logic would say we lost $1.5B and that is better than $2.5B we lost last year. Balance sheet is fine so we'll start paying back early. Until they cut management salary and undo the union strangle hold, GM is doomed. The only thing they have done innovative was the Saturn and then they crushed it.

You don't really believe Dodd as a Class III Senator up for reelection has anything to do with his motives. His special treatment on his mortgage has nothing to do with his influence. Dodd has had a gov't job for nearly 50 years. Time for him to go.

CALPERS bought 1.2B in SIV and didn't understand it. Now they want to blame the rating agency. Exactly how much did CALPERS pay the rating agency for this advice. How about firing the managers who decided to buy the SIVs. CALPERS might get paid in IOUs.

How exactly did you come up with target price? A higher or lower target price makes all the difference in the world. I own several of the DOW and believe your targets are set too low.

The Obama administration sounds more like Grant's or Jackson' rather than JFK's or FDR's. Why would you appoint another crook to oversee the auto's while firing the GM CEO? Guess GM didn't give enough kickbacks.

Let's $10B for mortgage modification program. That means my taxes are being given to my neighbor who entered into a bad contract for his house. Let him go bankrupt. If he entered into contract because of bank lender lied, send lender to jail. If because regulators didn't do job then send him to jail also. Let's one bankrupt and two in jail, I'll bet that'll slow down any more bad loans. If someone wants to give their money in the form of taxes good for them. I prefer to keep mine.

Maybe it is time to rethink retirement age. 65 may be too young to retire for many. As we live longer, maybe we'll need to work longer as well. Then again who says retirement is a right?

Why not just say we want our $170B bailout money BEFORE you pay any bonuses. Ofcourse, why did they pay 100% value on CDO's to foreign banks? Do you get the feeling our government talks the talk but don't walk the walk when it comes to taxpayer money. Is the $160M bonus money a smoke screen for the wasted $170B?
