  • Uni-Pixel: Is The SEC Investigating? [View article]
Excellent piece. Can't wait to see Killon doing the perp walk.

  • UniPixel (UNXL +5.3%) jumps out of the gate after announcing it has finished building out a 7.5K-square foot Texas office and wet lab facility that will support its UniBoss touch sensor manufacturing ramp. The company adds its employee count is up to 32, and that a motion for summary judgment in its breach of contract dispute with CIT is currently pending. Shares have been mostly treading water in June after crashing in May. [View news story]
For a more realistic& objective view than that given out by a bunch of proven dissemblers try this .........

  • UniPixel (UNXL +11.6%) CEO Reed Killion discloses he bought 3.4K shares today at $14.90. Shares of the beaten-down metal mesh touch sensor developer have soared on the news. 45.9% of the float was shorted as of May 31. [View news story]

If UNXL is such a great investment why did Killon sell 50k shares just a few weeks back? That's 14 times today's token purchase.

The other board members offloaded even more than that & they haven't bought back in. Perhaps they are the smart ones.

With a package of $686k he should have shown a lot more confidence than that $50k token.

How far are the new shareholders who took place in the latest placing underwater?

How about spending some of the $1.1m that he raised when he sold 50k at $22.90 just before that placing.

  • Goldberg Capital discloses it now has a 5.74% stake in UniPixel (UNXL +3.7%). That's up from a recent 5.25%, and seems to be giving a lift to shares in the wake of a 61% decline from their April 17 high of $41.42. (13G[View news story]

This sounds pretty positive to me ....

"Whilst there is much said about other companies within the
ITO alternative sector, we have remained focussed on our own product development and have created a solution which we believe is superior in every regard to competitor metal mesh technologies. We have also been investing in further technology developments which will enable our materials to be applicable to the developing needs of the industry that we serve. These improvements include even higher optical performance as screen resolutions increase, highly flexible materials for curved displays and roll-to-roll production of these displays, as well as products suitable for in-cell applications and in-mould insertion and products built on a range of optically optimised substrates"

Remember that they are talking about their current 3uM line width product - not the uncompetitive UNXL 6uM (or is it really 20uM) garbage.

CIT are supplying substrates for XSense - Atmel are making the touch screens & are forecasting $100m of revenues in 2014.

Agreed - UNXL looks more like a smoke & mirrors pump & dump by the day.

Carclo (UNXL's nearest competitor - via their CIT unit) looks a much better bet after a very positive statement on the Atmel connection today. Same valuation as UNXL but with $100m of fast growing & profitable revenues in high tech plastics already, a much better non ITO touch screen product, & solid reliable management.

  • UniPixel (UNXL +6.7%) rallies after announcing it's showing off 10.1" and 13.3" UniBoss touch sensor prototypes at this week's Computex trade show. The company says the prototypes are the same ones it recently showed off at Cowen and Craig-Hallum conferences, and don't "show any extraneous effects when viewing the display." Shares remain well below where they traded before SA contributor Seth Shaw posted pictures of UniBoss demo units with visible lines in a Friday column. [View news story]
    Thanks for the SEC link.

So ...... these screens are not on customer prototype products.

    Why not?
    - Not representative of current production?
    - The "customers" haven't yet committed to UniBoss for a product?

    More smoke & mirrors?

This news piece doesn't say that these UniBoss prototypes are on a customer product.

So - are they good enough to ship?

  • Intel Puts The Final Nail In The ARM Cost Myth Coffin [View article]
How one-eyed can a man get.

Ashraf E has completely missed (apparently) the launch of the ARM Cortex A-12 today.

This pretty much invalidates all of his recent comments about all levels of the mobile space - but it looks as if he is not willing to discuss it.

The Malthusian Trap has swallowed Ashraf whole.

  • Uni-Pixel: A Picture Is Worth A Thousand Words [View article]
    Chris H

This came from the last Earnings Conference Call ..........

The references to the other partner (Dell) were far from complimentary & I would be surprised if the UniPixel CEO didn't get a flea in his ear for saying .................

"One of the things that held us back over the past year, which I think we highlighted, was we weren't able to achieve a kind of optical clarity that's consistent with that of ITO. And one of the key things that we've learned over the past year with our partner is you'll deliver products where that's no longer a barrier to our success."

Translation (courtesy of PW) - we're focusing on the very bottom end of the market that will take our crap.

"Everybody I have spoken with says there are no optical issues"

UNXL themselves have said that there are optical issues & that is forcing them to selectively pitch UniBoss at the bottom of the market.

Take a look at the last UNXL Earnings Call for confirmation & tell us again that this is a professional company - selling an acknowledged inferior product does not justify even a quarter of the current valuation for me.

Excellent article that really demonstrates what a bunch of chancers UNXL are.

Compare this with the open diligence that Carclo/Atmel have applied when discussing & perfecting their FLT (Fine Line Technology) product that is already in consumer devices with retailers & users.

  • Musings On Minneapolis: Uni-Pixel Is Moving... Backwards [View article]
    kccris

"If UNXL can produce basically the same exact product and CIT/AMTL at half the price why would you think UNXL is not going to succeed? I feel the exact opposite. I think they will command a large % of the metal mesh market"

You will need to explain where you get these figures from.

I suspect that you are just making them up. Also how does a 70% yield impact on UNXL costs.

Does the very poor UNXL optical clarity (compared to the competition) impact on their projected margins - of course it does.

Yield & optical clarity make UNXL's pre-tax income forecasts a joke.

  • Unipixel (UNXL +2.4%) is reiterated a Buy by Cowen & Co.'s Rob Stone who calls Friday's 26% plunge overdone.  "It is logical for the PC OEM partner to delay a new product launch within months of an operating system update," he writes. Addressing Atmel (ATML -0.1%), Stone says the "competitive landscape appears unchanged." [View news story]
Not so sure that this news from today is factored into this reiterated buy rec ...........

    http://yhoo.it/1a6fCEr

So the over optimistic management at UNXL are going to be called to account.
