Consumers Will Continue to Buy Apple's Fashionable Gadgets
iPod sales will rebound. But this will be helped along significantly the Touch and the iPhone, the two most sophisticated iPods (but more, much more than just an iPod). Many people are sitting on the fence right now waiting for V2 and 3G, and when time comes to replace their existing iPod, many will opt to do so with the iPhone or Touch instead. Higher price points, and more margin for Apple! Also, Apple is in the early stages of international growth. There are still tremendous opportunities ahead for this company.

Adobe Forging Ahead with Flash for the iPhone
Hopefully Apple will keep Silverlight off the iphone - who needs MS crap software? All MS is trying to do is take another competitor (Adobe) out and continue their march to total world domination in every area...

Microsoft's License of Adobe Flash Lite for Mobile Devices is Good for Consumers
You are kidding right? Why in the world would Apple want Silverlight on the iPhone. In fact, why would anyone use Silverlight - another attempt by MS to put a competitor out of business by using their dominant market position. I wonder if MS, in their agreement with Adobe, put a clause in that Adobe can't port Flash Lite to the iPhone, a tactic they have used often in the past. (A fact well documented in the antitrust action against MS.) The marketplace should boycott Silverlight.

iPhone in Your Business: Pondering the ROI Case
All it takes in a large corp, or in any business, is for the CEO to have an iPhone / try an iPhone and he simply tells his IT department to support it. That is what will happen. That's exactly how RIM got to where they are. IT departments always resist change.

iPhone SDK and Restrictions: Some of the Details Aren’t Great
What a bozo - of course they are going to limit having multiple apps running in the background - he said it himself - limited memory and cpu size - it would be irresponsible for Apple to allow any more than one app run at this time - it would degrade the performance of the entire phone and experience and then this numbnuts would be bitching about how slow and underperforming the iphone is... as we see shrinking of components with more memory and speed, the iPhone will continue to evolve and rock the world... controlling the experience and environment on the iPhone is critical to the successful evolution of such a great product, and prevents it from turning into a dog like MS products. Why don't they just put Vista on it and make this guy happy!

Apple's "Anywhere" iPhone Has Far From Peaked
One of the most important aspects of Apple's exclusive deals with the carriers is that Apple then controls their own pricing. Cell phone makers have dug their own graves by selling to all the carriers and letting the carriers degrade / devaluing their products by giving them away for free with a 2 year contract. Let the carriers discount their services and quit underwriting phones turning them into commodities. The iPhone in fact is not a phone, but an incredibly sophisticated hand held wireless computer that also has phone functions and should be valued as such.

      Apple's AT&T Deal Is Costly
Get real naysayers. Apple has done the intelligent thing - controlling its own destiny, and not letting the service providers turn the iphone into a commodity. So how much does a cell phone cost? Free with a 2 year contract, even 2 free, or $99 for one of those other "smart phones". The industry has used subsidies to drive phones into a commodity position devaluing the phone makers' brands. Its time for the handset makers to take back control, and for the service providers to re-price (discount) their services to take their phone discounts out of the price consumers are really paying. By the way, when will the industry, and non-adopters, realize the the iphone is not really a phone, but a sophisticated hand held wireless computer that happens to have cell phone capabilities, and whose superior features, functions and integration provide superior value to the consumer.

Three Reasons I Chose Microsoft over Apple for Home Media
What a ridiculous position. First, getting all your advice from the "pros" at MSF - of course with the easy of use and reliability of MSF based systems, that's the kind of support you need, but no one else can get.

Further, I love the fact that as you speak of not having multiple boxes, you end with statements about buying and installing even more equipment.... You are not a typical consumer! And your whole position is grossly misleading.

And as a testament to the incredibly easy world of MSF (sic), you tell us it will take you a "few weeks" to get it all installed and up and running before you can give us more info... to quote...

"I'm going to write up a more substantive review (and maybe do a video tour) on Vista Media Center and my XBox 360 Extenders in the next few weeks once I get all the pieces set up and in place."

Thanks for all your great advice on exactly what NOT to do... including buying a game counsel as a dvd player which is now obsolete as it is based on the failed MSF supported format of HD DVD. DUH!

Apple Needs to Execute, No Longer Innovate
This headline, and assumption, is ridiculous. Apple will always be an innovator, and consistently innovates within their existing businesses, as well as innovating in new ones. Why in the world should they do anything different. It is about innovation AND execution. You can never stop innovating or your dead in the technology space, and this is where Apple excels!

Blame it on iPod's Near Zero Growth
Pah-leeze - trying to take a very limited "technocrat" approach instead of looking at the entire Apple ecosystem is misleading at best. The point is that their are more factors at play than just rate of unit growth of just one product, and then also NOT including revenue and margin growth for that product in that analysis, as you state, is just plain wrong and misleading, And then not taking into account that products' relationship with all of Apple's products and services generating revenue is even worse.

Blame it on iPod's Near Zero Growth
BTW - y/y percentages are a false measure when you look at total revenue which should have also been charted. Here are the Dec. 2004 ipod revenue numbers and just the 1st qtr 2008 INCREASE in ipod revenue is about HALF of TOTAL ipod revenue in the that time - "The company reported that it sold more than 4,580,000 iPods during the quarter, representing a 525 percent increase in iPod units compared to this time last year. All iPod models brought in more than $1.2 billion in revenue for Apple during the quarter."

Since when is 5% growth "near 0", especially with a business this size? Other companies would kill for that kind of growth. If Apple hadn't seen the 17% iPod revenue gain, this still would have been a $200M revenue increase. But with the sale of more expensive units, they realized an almost $600m iPod revenue gain. Also, iPods are NOT the primary driver the market thinks they are - Macs are now taking over that space as they saw a 47% gain y/y. iPod is driving Mac sales and will continue to do so as wintel users switch over in droves. Apple is still firing on all cylinders and still has tremendous growth potential domestically and internationally.

Apple Seeking a Reunion With Adobe?
"Webster" / "Have a Life" or whatever you're calling yourself today (having an identity crisis are you?) - again, you are clueless. You really should get a life contrary to your new name... more and more film makers are turning to Final Cut Pro, and not just on the indie side of the business. Also, many commercials and lots of tv programming. Next time, before you start slamming, slurring and spewing your BS, do some research - you do know how to google don't you? Films that have been edited in Final Cut Pro include Cold Mountain, Intolerable Cruelty and Francis Ford Coppola's most recent effort, Youth Without Youth, to name just a few.
