  • Alibaba And Baidu Disappoint: Why Qihoo, YY And Dangdang Could Buck The Trend [View article]
Justin Giles did a lot of flag waving in his article regarding what the stocks were most likely to do and one would take those as an opinion by him that the stocks were most likely going up immediately. It didn't happen with the 1st two and the third Dang doesn't look good at this point.

  • Chesapeake Energy: Is The Worst Behind The Company? [View article]
Their hedging program is killing them and they do not seem to acknowledge this as a problem. Ive seen this before where quarter after quarter efficiencies are not reflected on the bottom line because of hedging. I have sold my CHK.

  • Alliance Fiber Optic Products: A-FLOP Or A-POP? [View article]
I am not sure this article dispels the markets uncertainty toward AFOP in the areas of growth, limited customer base, and insider sales. The author says, " there has never been a better time to bank some gains, and adds this is a very cyclical market". If the insiders saw this company as being more valuable in the future why would some of them sell most of their stock?

  • Commodities Today: Oil And Gasoline Markets A Concern For Investors [View article]
Given the subject the author chose It would have been meaningful if he had addressed why with all these deterrents to refiners profit margins and Valero (VLO), announcing that they anticipate missing earnings by 20%, its stock price continue to increase

  • Another twist to the debate on electric vehicles: Sales of EVs has cut into the revenue collected by states on gas purchases and used to pay for highway and bridge maintenance. As a reaction, three states have enacted rules to add fees to green cars while five others are weighing legislation. But the larger question on the issue is if electric vehicles are actually to blame for the drop in gas tax revenue or if it's the better gas mileage across the automobile industry (GM, F, TM, NSANY.OB)? [View news story]
Like all Government no amount of money is enough. What we need is less Government not more taxes.

  • Janney Capital Markets' Mark Kalinowski has a real taste for Wendy's (WEN -0.7%) new Pretzel Bacon Cheeseburger, saying the menu addition could increase same-store sales by as much as 3% for the Buy-rated company. The analyst notes the product - which is expected to be rolled out nationally later this year - tested off the charts in a limited-time offering. However, not everyone is as smitten over the pretzel bun concept, with industry insider Darren Tristano noting investors should focus on the beef not the bun. [View news story]
I would not short the stock but also would not buy it. Wendy's has a lot of work to do to live up to their commercials. Many of their stores are old, dirty, and run as franchises over which Wendy's seems to have or take little control. Wendy is not Dave and they would do well to reconsider her as the lead in advertising. More importantly food quality is not what it should be.

  • Wendy's - Do What Tastes Right! [View article]
Went to a Wendy's recently in Mesa,Arizona. It was the worst hamburger and fries I have ever eaten. The place was old and dirty. I sent an E-mail to Wendy's basically saying they should take a look at the place and their food. I received a standard reply that someone would contact me in the next 48 hours. That was 2 weeks ago and never heard back from them. I sold my Wendy's stock as a result.
