The Humility of Realism

Larry -- David (and the other author who wrote The Shallowest Generation) are completely right... Baby boomers are running the White House, Congress and fill most senior management positions at S&P companies. Baby boomers have never known hardship, they have always lived beyond their means with debt levels the world has never seen before. Baby boomers gave us woodstock and a drug epidemic (which younger generations did not repeat on anywhere near the same scale). The folks who brought us "flower power" also brought us the greediest, most over paid, and collectively most inept CEOs in the history of the United States.

Younger generations will get their turn, and they might be as bad as baby boomers -- but being young, they haven't yet reached the age where they have the greatest influence. Those positions belong (right now and for the last 15-20 years) to Baby Boomers.

Being fair though, we can't blame the Baby Boomers for Alan Greenspan. He was a failure of an earlier generation
