It's a Great Time to Be an Inflationista
Actually attempst to increase the money supply for main street has been a failure but the author is probably half right....as time goes along, the bucks will start working itself into the system from M3 to M1 and then inflationary pressures will start up....but we just went thru a super inflationary period brought on by low interest rates and this cycle now collapsed...low energy and RE. Now were waiting for the low cost M! to start hitting main street and we can start again is what the author assumes will happen.
LETS GET JOB GROWTH AND ASSET PRICES TO BOTTOM AND START MOVING UP BEFORE THE EXISTING GAME IS OVER AND WE START UP AGAIN. We got time but the piece is appreciated because it
alerts us to what potentially lies ahead...only we do not know the timing yet....MarvinMBA

      Another Perma-Bear Converts To Bullish-ism - Barron's
There are no two markets that evolve in exactly the same way...in fact
whats been happening has never happened before given the problems and
given the ongoing solutions....any market speculation is always dangerous....when jobs start appearing again and unemployment rates start
dropping and banks start lending...in other word when the fundamentals start coming to life that might be a signal for market improvement..MarvinMBA

Beginning a Mini Bull Run; Be Prepared for Another Dip
Saying that the future model repeats itself can be dangerous to investors....the only stocks that will participate in any bull run will have to prove that they contribute something besides being part of a larger market....yes, I'm looking for a run from oversold but ONLY FOR STOCKS THAT HAVE MERIT going forward like GE and MSFT for example...these people produce something thats going to be needed going forward.,,,MarvinMBA

      Nortel's Stock Price Is Irrelevant
Nortels problems seemed to all come with the faulty financial statements some time back that resulted in lawsuits and major fines and paybacks to the injured stockholders. Part of the problem can be attributed to management spending a great deal of time re-doing past financial statements and taken up with the Lawyers trying to defend themselves and the company as well as many management changes. NORTEL WAS NOT AND HAS NOT PAID ATTENTION TO BUSINESS and it missed many many opportunities. Management and the Board of Directors have NOT BEEN WATCHING THE STORE for some time now. In my opinion WHY SHOULD A INVESTOR TRUST NORTEL TO DO THE RIGHT THING??? They screwed up so badly in the past that integrity has been destroyed in my opinion...MarvinMBA

Regulations and Markets: Making a Bad Situation Worse
I suppose if everybody acted so that their decisions would promote the common good regulation would not be nessasary and the taxpayer money used to bailout and finance our financial/inducstrial segments would not be at risk. The regulation is all about safegarding loans(?) to those that are failing and I think the public wants some assurance its not going to be used indiscriminantly...and they are right. Would you lend or give away your hard earned money without some oversight into how it will be used or spent??? Our trust in the past with our financial/banking/brok... industries gave us this downdraft and once burned we want to avoid it in the future.....lets fact it THE BUSH ADMINISTRATION IS SOCIALIZING OUR FINANCIAL AND INDUSTRIAL BASE......MarvinMBA

John Hussman: Preparing for Extreme Possibilities
Its too early in this cycle to second guess market direction....future quarters are going to show declines and no one can tell me how the market is going to react....my best guess is we have 2 years of volatility and more downdraft.
I think you will have to be very nimble to generate retirement bucks in this market...MarvinMBA

Don't Be Fooled - Inflation is Coming
So far were going to see people sleeping on the streets and begging for food with stores stocked and empty houses just rotting. During the 30's people broke into vacant houses and just moved in and the banks did nothing. Soup kitchens opened and fed the hungry. This could happen again sooner than anyone realizes.

Talking about inflation we just went thru a bout with energy and housing and financials before the bubbles burst. I'm not sure we are going to see a repeat of this type of inflation any time soon as we go thru a period of agonizing adjustment down a deep hole. We do not know what the next cycle will bring but you are right that the deficiets are not
going to be solved anytime soon. I doubt if they will ever be paid off now that we are going to try to spend our way out of this downdraft and make things worst. Probably the best place to be now and in the future
is to own a working farm as a inflation hedge.....MarvinMBA

Cheapest Valuations in Decades Will Trump Panic Selling
I think we should revisit the buy side of the investment equation after a few more quarters so we can get a feel of which way the global ball is going to roll...uphill or downhill.....the dislocations have been so great in financials, Real Estate and Stocks as well as Job loss and Deficiet Spending that I believe we will be in a real world survival mode like food, shelter and transportation needs that excess liquidity for non-interest producing equities
and going to be sidelined for awhile and cash/cashequivalent is going to be the place to be if you are lucky enough to have some cash...MarvinMBA

John Paulson: Cruising Through the Financial Crisis
Going back to fundamentals, this country was built on the basis of low priced oil. It resulted in an abundance of food and a higher living standard and a strong defense. The cost of energy in all its forms was in the noise and insignificant. Right now we are faced with the reverse because of various negative factors of our own making. The Government has been concentrating on external factors not paying attention to providing the energy the country needs in case of disruptions like the economic failures we now have to cope with. At one time we were able to BS oursleves out of it. It seems to me it too late to provide the fundamentals this country needs like cheap energy from home grown sources. Our sitiuation will continue on a downward spiral and it will be impossible to manipulate our way out of this...the world out there has finally understood our game plan and the Feds attemps to manipulate the failed institutions into life will result in failure and accelerate our fall to DEPRESSION.

How the Lehman Bailout Increased Moral Hazard
The problems is so complex there are no simple solutions including
the advantages and disadvantages of allowing a Leham failure.
The real failure was the failure of the Fed to increase interest rates about 5 years ago.
