The Return of Tobacco: Safe Haven in a Volatile Market
I would suspect that alcohol and valium stocks will perform well too.

Architects Forecast: Nonresidential Construction to Slow
Tell me something I don't already know, or at least could easily predict without any more research. Of course non-residential construction is going to slow down. So is everything else, except hospitals and funeral homes. And even funeral homes are going to be selling lower end caskets, and creamation options rather than caskets. Not much else is certain.

Wall St. Bonuses Up in 2007, Despite It All
Goldman Sachs managers deserve every millions of dollars of bonuses they receive. I'm not so sure about the rest of the bunch though.

Strategy: Dogs vs. Flying Five vs. Net Payout Yield
Interesting, but what's your point? It seems like the article just ended like the movie, "No Country for Old Men". I thought maybe there would be some further analysis after the lists. ???

      Cracker Barrel Looks Tantalizing
You're right, generally there is always a wait to get a table, and that's a very good sign of a prosperous business. I think I'll go eat there tonight. And tomorrow look at buying their stock........if I had any money.

Great article, and one I needed to read since I own a bit of stock in this fairly unknown company.

Bed Bath & Beyond Earnings Report Is Not Good
Just makes me now wonder if I should take the loss or hang on for maybe until next year! I own at 33.26, pretty much higher than what it's at now. And it's such a nice company, with no debt, good sales increases.......usuall... good earnings......usually. And I thought they were doing much better than any competitors.

The Week Ahead: Ominous al-Qaeda Precedent
Great article. At first I thought it was a bit odd to compare the NA assasination/911attack to the Bhutto assasination, and wait for another attack. And it seemed so dumb, I almost quit reading the article. But I kept reading, and you give some rather compelling arguments, though I don't think there will be an attack of such magnitude soon. But if there is, it really would make sense for Pakistan to be in turmoil so that AQ could hide there. I also feel that Pakistan is definately a goal of Islamic fundamentalists as the next country to take over, along with Iraq.

Will Sears Holdings Be Cut in Half - Again?
I went into Sears during Christmas season, in a thriving mall, and Sears in that mall has no excuse to blame where it is, or anything other than people just don't care to shop there as much anymore. What is Eddie Lambert doing to improve Sears anyway? Buying Restoration Hardware? That's another store that has lost its appeal in a huge way!

Did FCC Commissioner Drop Hints On Sirius/XM Merger?
I'm for the merger, though it will create a monopoly. But it's a monopoly that has a lot of competition! It's like having a monopoly in tea. If it gets too high, people will just get their caffiene from coffee, or vice versa. So, in a sense, nothing is really a monopoly, if there is any other possible way to satisfy wants and needs.
But I'm for the merger simply because I've been holding plenty of damned SIRI for way too long! It's a matter of just wanting to make some money. However, once it ever goes through, I might want to subscribe, since I can't get any good radio stations, but plenty of "country" ones. But I certainly agree that I will wait until the merger so that I can buy exactly the right equipment for my car. I have no need for satellite radio in my home.

A Masochistic Market Sells Goldman Sachs' Great Quarter
I agree with the author. I totally believe that GS, for better of for worse, is a great stock to own or just trade for a quick profit. However they make their numbers, fairly or not, they do make 'em. I bought it, sold it, made some money today, because, as the author pointed out, the analysts focused on the one sort of negative comment in a sea of positives.

      Goldman Sachs Earnings Are Mind-Boggling
Great article! I love Goldman Sachs and just bought some yesterday, and sold it today. I might do it again if there's another irrational drop in its price. They report what I consider to be very good earnings, and the stock drops? Amazing! I SOOOO couldn't believe it, that I rushed in and bought some, and glad I did. These guys are wizards!
