  • Why Windstream Should Be Avoided [View article]
@Davephd: Both of your S&P references were written by the same analyst, so citing both is a bit misleading in attempting to portray the number of positive ratings out there. Furthermore, S&P has been god-awful in rating this stock the past couple of years. Why do they consistently maintain a 5-star rating on the stock but continually reduce their price target? Seems counterintuitive . . .

I am long WIN and hopeful that S&P has it right, but I stopped believing in their credibility on this stock awhile ago. I had hoped the analyst change (from Todd Rosenbluth to Rob Dezego) this spring might help uproot the proverbial S&P heels that were dug-in so deep on this stock, but it looks like more of the same. I'm expecting them to drop their price target another dollar after the next earnings report, yet once again maintain a 5-star rating. Good grief. This thing will bottom eventually . . .

  • U.S. district judge Denise Cole declares Apple (AAPL) guilty of conspiring to fix e-book prices, in violation of antitrust law, and says a damages trial will take place. Apple's publisher partners have already settled with the DOJ. The ruling arguably represents a win for e-book rival Amazon (AMZN), which wants to maintain the right to set its own e-book prices (regained last year following publisher settlements with the DOJ and EU). [View news story]
Or you could make an effort to learn the difference between "site" and "cite". Hard to take you seriously...

  • 3 Very High Yield Dividend Stocks Earning Income And Maintaining Flush Reserves [View article]
SCCO slashed its dividend by more than half last week -- not such a high-yielder for a least the next quarter (seems like this company has trouble maintaining a steady dividend -- it has been all over the place during the past several quarters).

  • 5 Superb Plays With Yields As High As 10% [View article]
I think you may have made another mistake with the SCCO stock dividend calculation. Their press release states a 19-cent cash dividend, plus a stock dividend of 0.0107 sh., not 0.017. At $35/sh, this would put the stock portion of the dividend at ~37 cents, summing to 56 cents total (not 78 cents, and certainly below the previous dividend of 70 cents).
