Windows Collapsing Under Its Own Weight - Gartner
Mini point to was_fred: Apple's System 10.4 (Tiger) does support Classic applications. Can't speak for most recent (10.5) but I think classic runs under 10.5 as well. But only on a non-Intel Mac. Its only Intel Macs that won't run classic. All PPC Mac do. So, I'm not sure what your point is regarding Vista.

Payrolls Drop - And You Ain't Seen Nothin' Yet
Reading above - all the ranting, the politics of envy, politics of greed, the recriminations. All the people who know better, all the people who can finger who failed, but have no solutions themselves - but they could obviously do better. Because they are all knowing, have infinite wisdom, and are eternally unhappy with things.

      Pathetic and disgusting.

Really, the best way forward is to level the playing field. The government should nationalize all industry, everybody work for the government, and the government run everything. And the government will decide who runs the government and decides what laws there will be. Of course. Been done before, and most of you above seem to want this again.

And, this way there will no longer be anti-Americanism anywhere, no militants out there to tear us down. Because we are now dead. Stabbed ourselves through the heart.

And then there is Antie, who usually comments here regarding Apple. Antie says with certainty that APPL is headed for $86/sh.

I know, and most everyone else knows Antie is correct. Apple will be $86 again, most likely by year end.

      After it splits 3:1.

      Options Trader: Tuesday Outlook
Barak will be a darling among many in Europe, who hate the war and equate the war with anti Americanism. And he will make whatever concessions necessary to garner their love of America again. But there is not concrete evidence that even he has any great love of America.

Barak's decision to pull troops means he has placed a limit on the amount of money he will spend to fight terrorism; i.e. whatever is being spent now (Iraq) is too much and, besides, he says, it is too difficult. If he has to draw the line, it will be on US soil, and not on any other Al Quida focus in the mid-East. And the focus on the war on terrorism will not be his focus "until the planes fly". And, he is locked into this, or else, or else his leftwing Moveon.org support will vanish overnight.

And, with the concession to Iran that he will no longer support Israel as avidly as has Bush, Iran will no longer be a threat in his mind.

Pretty much wraps up his strategy. Peace at last!

Microsoft's License of Adobe Flash Lite for Mobile Devices is Good for Consumers
My understanding of this is that Apple has already examined Flash (don't know about Flashlite), and rejected it because it is an energy hog. I agree also about annoying advertisements that will then pop up all the time, using bandwidth, slowing everything down to a crawl, and - producing a lousy user experience. So, who really needs this? Users? or advertisers who are pressuring to pump their junk onto your phone - and you have no way out of this mess.

MacWorld Expo Boosts Apple Stock Price - Again
What happens after Macworld might be interesting, but has nothing to do with his analysis. If you want that sort of recapitulation you might better look at long term percent change. For example, how about 3,800% (that's three thousand eight hundred percent) from 1999 to now. Yes indeed. 38X. And no selling or buying. So why worry wort the short term?

Google's Android Will Lead to New Class of Mobile Internet Devices
      to MrMarket
There are so many IFS in this scenereo - - all they have to do is get the spectrum, all they have to do is provide free internet, all they have to do is get everybody to adopt Android, all they have to do is get PC users to use a phone exclusively, all they have to do is get the whole world to enter connectivity through Google, all they have to do is get every corporation to funnel their ads through Google Android, - - all they have to do is get AT&T, Microsoft, Apple, - - - to sit around and watch them take over the internet. But you are right that the government might also take a dim view of all of this. Ditto for foreign governments. And let us not forget that all of this doesn't come free. And let us not forget that Mother Lode is really money from other corporations, spent on advertising. And if this money spent on advertising doesn't yield results it will dry up in an eye blink. Just remember, nobody likes a monopoly including the government. In short, there are a multitude of reasons why this will never fly. And free internet connectivity will never yield the dream they envision for the simple reason that most people don't want a pop up ad driven internet experience - - . Think of the Facebook debacle now in making where the real driving force was this notion that advertisers could glean personal information and then exploit it to their benefit, something they could not otherwise do economically. It wasn't consumer driven, it was greed driven - - a sure formula for failure.

Google's Android Will Lead to New Class of Mobile Internet Devices
I believe there is going to be a lot of fight on the user/consumer side of the equation. A LOT! And therefore regard this hypothetical shift naive. Serious business people are going to continue to use MS Office or equiv on a PC, not a phone. And, from my discussions, people accepting adds popping up on their phone is highly improbable. Perhaps some lower earners and neophytes will go for a low cost connection. But not many, and when these "marketers" realize they aren't getting the market they dreamed of, the whole concept will evaporate. Perhaps the old axiom is appropriate here; "you get what you pay for."
This whole Google ad based connectivity based universe is pure masterbation. That doesn't mean Google won't try it, as they think they must to keep ad revenue flowing in. But a reality check with the consume/business person is highly advised. Like - who wants or needs it!
