    How long will it take before we realize that we can't afford to spend a trillion dollars a year on maintaining a military empire that is bleeding us dry? We spend nearly as much on "defense" as the rest of the world combined. We also have the dubious distinction of being far and away the world's largest arms exporter.

    Rome, here we come.
