Tejon Ranch: A Land Play in Southern California [View article]
The Tejon is out in the middle of No Where. About 30 miles or so from Henry Mayo Hospital in Valencia. Or, one can drive the Grapevine down to Bakersfield. Not sure retirees will want to relocate so far from established medical services or shopping. And then there's the snow that the Tejon usually gets in the winter. Usually, the LA Times has a photojournal of pictures showing semi-tractor trailers stuck in the snow up there.
Amazing that Florida and California have the oil resources (as well as mining, commercial fishing, forestry) to easily get out of debt, but they don't want to upset the environmentalists in the media, Hollywood, real estate and "hospitality" industries. All they have to do is sell oil leases off their coasts, folks.
And Nevada and Arizona? All they have to do is restore mining in their deserts. They don't want to do that either, so my position is to let these States go down their own drain and not take the rest of us with them.
