  • Why Deere & Company Should Interest Long-Term Investors [View article]
to farmers (and construction) what matters is spare parts and service.

Mahindra has not got the dealer network to compete in South or North America. World wide they may be more competitive, but anywhere Deere decides to invest, Deere will support dealers and buyers with their in house "bank" and, in the long run, you will buy where you service and can get support. IMHO

  • Why Investors Should Accumulate Shares Of Quicklogic [View article]
Joe, over half your articles are on QUIK. You have been positive since fall 2012. I agree they have a good story (now) but timing is, if not everything, at least most of everything.

I agree that this is now a 2015 story, but am concerned that management is not able to convert their potential. I have another small stock like this (good potential and poor continued execution) its EMAN. Their success, like QUIK, is always just a quarter or two away.

    good luck

  • Who Will Be Swimming Naked When The Tide Goes Out? [View article]
looking forward to the small cap article. I think they are due for a turn. If small cap deserves a premium to large, why are all my small caps under appreciated?!?

GNTX, OTI, QUIK, RMTI, DAKT, and HIMX are my picks. Hope to find one or two of them make your article.

    cheers

  • It's Never Too Early To Invest For Retirement [View instapost]
    I agree completely, PTI.
I can not tell you how many recent grads or interns come by our shop and not one has a clue. They think money is that thing they get every month from their parents!

My daughter is 15 and has a job. She is earning and saving (1/2 for college mandatory). I plan on opening a Roth IRA for her this fall once she has 1000 dollars earned.

I am excited for her and hope it becomes an example of how successful you can be with time on your side.

Please write an update and let us know how your daughter is doing on her quest.

    cheers

  • Wesco Aircraft: How To Turn Nuts & Bolts Into A Wide-Moat Business [View instapost]
this does not seem like your typical deep value buy, Gregory. Its got a fair multiple according to the market (about the same as the S&P500) and according to FAST GRAPHS its at its historical PE.

good company, though. FAST GRAPHS shows steady earnings increases.

  • What The Heck Is Wrong With Big Tech? [View article]
Apple is a buyer of tech. Its purchased about 30 companies this year alone. Beats was the biggest in $ and in recognition, but just because you don't follow it closely does not mean the company is not an active pursuer of other companies. IBM and INTC have also purchased companies in the past. CISCO has done this for a long long time.

If I had AAPL's cash, I would be buying other companies
If I had AMZN's stock multiple I would be buying with stock like Facebook does.

Its a quick way to cherry pick and retain good tech/ patents.

    long AAPL, INTC

  • Why It Can Be Self-Destructive To Compare Yourself To The S&P 500 [View article]
I hear you Tim, its about having it work for you.
Does it provide the cash you need or not. Only, early on, its hard to see progress

We are competitive by nature. I find that the summer has made me more risk taking in that the lack of volatility has made me take risks that I otherwise would not. In order to combat this wrong headed thinking, I find I need to find a way to win. To compete and win. I am human and I must compete? Maybe.

I believe your advice is easier said than done. But, if you are to be free of the S&P500 comparison then there must be some measure you use. What do you use? Quick, before I invest in risky growth stocks because my portfolio is stagnated! increasing dividends is too slow a measure. the neighbors are idiots I would not benchmark. I need to KNOW that I am above average. I need a yardstick. I do, don't you?

    Thanks

  • Smart Glasses, Eyewear, Headsets: Kopin Has The IP To Lead [View article]
if their IP is so good, how are others like Himx and Eman able to make headsets and goggles without paying royalties? I think a review of the competitors would be a good add. Not sure if they have a particular niche that Eman and Himx are left out of or if the IP is cross licensed or some other arrangement, but would be interested in reading comments from those that do.
